Hi all,
I am going to place my order this week for my new Camaro. Here is my question and I havent seen it asked here yet. I am going to order a Victory Red car with the option for a black hood and hockey stripe. I however, really dont want the hockey stripe. When I asked the dealer if they could order it without, he said that the code in their system showed that the hood and stripes were a dealer installed option. We had a long conversation about that. I can see the stripes [although quality issues are in question] but the hood? Are they going to paint the hood at the dealership? What? He is looking into it, but its the last question I have before pulling the trigger.
Any thoughts?

The stripes are vinyl, not painted. You'll have to get them as a package...but, just tell the dealer not to install the hockey stripes. I'm sure you'll be able to sell them here and recoup your costs.

Yeah, just tell the dealer not to install the hockey stripes. As for the hood I'm not sure, I think you might have to have a body shop paint the hood. Or rather I recommend you take it to a body shop

Thanks for the answer on the stripes, but what about the hood? Are they going to paint that at the dealership? Im am thinking that they will get a standard car and then paint the hood to be black. What do you know/think?

No stripes will be painted. They're all vinyl.

black sunshine... when you say "hood" are you talking about the dual racing rally stripes we have been seeing lately or do you mean the ENTIRE hood like on the victory red SEMA car where it is all victory red with an entire black hood to set it off? this will help in regards to your question

No Camaro model comes with an all black hood except a Black Camaro. The Hockey Stripe package includes the hockey stripes on each side and the hump in the center of the hood stripe. None of which is painted, all vinyl decals. If you don't want the hockey stripe part just tell the dealer not to install that part of the stripe package. If you want that part of the hood to be painted black, don't order the stripe package and just pay the dealer extra to paint the hood black.

Thanks guys,,,, I thought that they were supplying the all black hood like the SEMA and BLACK Concept car. Guess I will just have to have the hood painted after I get it. No biggie on that. Thanks, you guys saved me some extra cash!

Im just trying to get proof that my dealer has the cars he says they do. Gotta figure that one out.

They are pretty cool over there and really have no reason to lie so Im just being diligent and paranoid.
