Congrats Jess ! 212.5 is moving out ! 207.20 was the previous record that I know of. I ran 183.67 in the 1/2 mile last month on boost only but have no desire to try and run the mile. It takes balls of steel to run those events with cars like ours......Congrats again on a record breaking pass !!!!

Thanks guys! The motor was awesome this time around. I really need to put it on a better set of tires and I should be able to pick up some speed in the first 1/2 that will give me little more on top. I'm running the toyos and they definitely don't grip like the hoosiers.

A tire that outlooks the R888 may also not be very friendly at 180+ MPH. Pucker effect.

Jessrayo what is the extra vents you installed on the side of the hood. I've been wanting to do something similar to lower under hood temps.

Actually those R888's have very high speed rating, just don't have the initial grip that some of the others have. Other than lack of grip off the line no problem with the R888s.

It really is, other than the stickers on it, it has no chute or aero mods at all. I guess if I did all of that aero stuff it might go 225.

I did not capture any in car video this time. I might take it on the road one day and video something but that sounds like asking for trouble.

It was great to be back in the seat and have it run decent. The three previous times I ran the mile the car had nitrous on it. This is the first time I ever ran it without nitrous. I must admit that when you give it a 250 shot at 165 mph you get a very nice surge sensation. The car had a lot of power but the big rush was not there without the nitrous. I guess it made the power a lot more controllable. I feel like I finally went as fast as the car was capable of going all those times I went and broke something. The motor is a beast.

I want to say my second time at the mile we were having a lot of overheating problems, both IAT and engine water temp and we surmised that with the underpan preventing air that comes in the grill from exiting under the car and how small those stock hood vents were the air was getting pressurized and trapped under the hood. I think phastec sells those hood vents and after we added those all the temps at speeds over 160mph came down. The hood used to shake and jump around like crazy as I approached 200mph, now it is mush less dramatic. They don't have any kind of rain catch at all, they are just open but I don't drive this car in the rain.

Oh I know the R888s have a high rating. What I meant was a tire that has better low end traction (Like a drag radial) may also be very scary at 180+.

The texas mile does not allow drag radials because of past failures at high speed that caused wrecks. I really don't like drag radials, there is way too much movement for me. Most of the 200mph cars are on hoosier R7s. They give more grip than the toyos and are just as stable. Problem with the Hoosiers I have is they are shorter than the toyos so I kind of run out of gear in 5th with the shorter tire.

My car has so much power it is still accelerating very hard at the end of the mile. All of my runs this year ended in 5th gear and when I had the transmission built a couple years ago they specifically built 6th gear as a usable gear for top speed runs. I have no idea how fast this thing could go at someplace like Bonneville where you have 3 miles to get it going....

Yeah that’s what I figured. That’s crazy fast too man, I may have missed it, but how much does she put down?
