I did it myself... it took me about 5 hours but I took a few beer breaks during the process...with the video and directions it's really not that hard.... I didn't even have the video. If your good with stuff like this I say you should do it yourself.

Like I said, I solder mine, but some don't have that luxury, but you are correct, they can fail.

What head unit / cameras did you go with?
I went with the Kenwood DDX9703S

So after thinking about it some more, before spending nearly $2k on this, I think I am going to hold off until one of the big brands (Pioneer / Kenwood) offers a double-din android auto head unit that includes dash cam DVR functionality. I want a front camera for parking assistance, but would love to be able to record the front camera video for insurance purposes or the occasional auto-cross. There are some cheap brands that make head units with dash cam DVR now, so I hope it's only a matter of time until the big brands offer something too. Thanks for your help everyone!

I just finished installing this with a Pioneer 4100NEX. Everything works well except for one strange issue, I'm hoping someone here may have some ideas.
When I have my iPhone connected through the USB (CarPlay) and a phone call comes in and I answer it from the steering wheel button, they can hear me fine, but I can't hear them at all.
If I answer the call by pressing the answer button on the HU display, then I can hear them fine.

I tried with the mute wire cut and connected but get the same thing...

Anyone run into this?

I had the alpine dash kit for the last 2-3 years but now the HVAC buttons no longer work (along with some other buttons). That means no air conditioning in the hot summer. So I am looking for a solution, and this looks pretty good.

Could someone tell me how much an install at a shop this would be? Just need an average or an idea. I already have aftermarket modules like steering wheel and sirius etc, and its already been wired up with all my aftermarket amps and speakers. Will that help make it a quicker and cheaper job than if everything was OEM from the start?

I have the Alpine Dash kit also and the problem I have is when I start the car up it is always on high heat. This looks like a better option to go with. If I have the Alpine already installed shouldn't this just drop right in? Everything is already hooked up with the Alpine kit.

Are you asking if your head unit will fit in the Pac kit?if it's double din standard size it should.
You need the stock bezel for the dials.

Its pretty much a drop in kit for everything, scosch/metra/stock.
You will need to transfer the wires from the radio to the Pac Module no matter which way you go though.
