Mounting the front plate

When I received my camaro the dealer had applied the front license plate bracket with double sided tape, I was told that it would come off easily and when I went to remove it i noticed that a piece of the plastic had dug into the paint scratching it, so now instead of removing the front plate I am looking into how to attach it permanently.

Is there specific hardware that I need to do it myself or do I have to bring it to a dealership and have them attach it...if I can do it by myself would those self tapping screws work?

Thanks in advance for your insight, and just to add, at first I wasnt a fan of the front plate but now I hardly notice it...

I am kinda glad the front bracket wasn't installed on mine today when I picked it up, but yet now I still need to get plates on somehow. The bag of hardware for the plate had 4 rivets in it so I do not know besides that a way to install the bracket.

My dealer installed the front plate bracket by drilling 4 holes into the front bumper...
It doesn't look as bad as I thought, as it is contoured to the shape of the bumper...
I decided to get myself Vanity Plates to "soften the blow"...now you can see my HWAY STR plates "coming and going"...

See this thread started by faninc on how to mount the plate without drilling holes http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ht=front+plate

I am still running sans front plate and working with PolishMike on a bracket for my manual "Show N Go" retractable license plate frame - will post when a solution for that is found.

I've got a whole list of things that I want the dealer to do when the car comes in ranging from not mounting the license plate to not removing the tape, washing it, doing any kind of detail work. Probably more depending on what I read on here.

Thanks! Both have been downloaded and saved . I will pretty much be combining yours and scotty's and throwing a couple of my own in there. It is going to be funny to see the dealers face when I give them the list but I figure if I am spending near $40K then a couple requests which for the most part make the dealers job easier aren't too much to ask.

Thanks again for the files .

Just get the dealer to install it now. And you won't have to worry about getting pulled over. As someone else mentioned, it's hardly noticeable anyways. You'll get so many compliments. No one will say- dam, that plate looks like crap- except maybe a fellow new Camaro owner. Might want to get a personalized plate- I got HDBIKER.

No problem my friend As far as the license plate holder goes I'm sure you have seen/read about the hideaway one that swift motor sports offers (http://www.swiftmotorsports.com/index.php?cPath=2049) if not here is the link. I just couldn't handle holes drilled into my baby!! My dealer was totally cool and I had no issues whatsoever! Enjoy!

I have seen a bunch of options including that one, I'm kind of thinking about doing the suction cup mod, I saw that on here somewhere.

Haven't seen that one....LMK if you use that and how it hold up! So far I haven't had any issues with the local law enforcement but that can change any time....you know how NY State can be!!
