Even when they build new roads it usually takes years for them to complete them and open them. One road up by me is a perfect example, we heard about it back in 2000 when we first discovered the area where we would eventually live. The road didn't open up until 2007. So even if they are building new roads in your area your current navigation disk will last you a reasonable amount of time.

Just remember the construction crews love to make overtime.

Sadly all signs point to no. :(

I have faith GM will do the right thing and add this option in the next model year or so.

I've read about this "HUD" many times on this site, but never seen any specific details. Can someone elaborate as to what it is and what it does?

Search for threads about the HUD. The Corvette has it, Pontiacs have had it, and aircraft have it. It displays information like speed an the windshield within your line of sight. Here is a picture of the HUD from the Corvette. Camaro is expected to have similar information display but there are no details.

I would have to guess that GM won't add navigation until the 2012 MY. I have noticed GM doesnt really make "big changes" like that until at least the 3rd year of production.

GMT-800 (Tahoes, etc) - 2003 (3rd model year) switched to digital controls for hvac added Nav
GMT-900 (Tahoes, etc) - 2009 (3rd model year) added 6 speed trannie option, 6.2ltr engine option
C6 Corvette - 2008 new transmission, (late '08) new interior package

I know my way. Don't need nav.
Have it on my phone and also got a Magellan for Christmas. It helped them to afford to put other things in the car from what I understand.

Since the Camaro's direct competition (Mustang and Challenger) have an OEM GPS Nav system the Camaro will eventually get it.

But it looks like they would require a major re-design of the center dash to accommodate a decent sized LCD screen. Hell my Honda has an 8" LCD can't imagine anything smaller.

Well I hope this happens by the MCE. On Star pisses me off (Price/Lack of LCD screen), portable units look are ugly, out of place, and they have such have such small screens. Paper maps? LOL once I got an in dash system I tore them up and used them as toilet paper. Thats all they are good for now anyway.
