I think there used to be a guy selling them on the forum for $10, but a bunch of people sell them on ETSY for cheap.

I doubt one guy selling some carfaxs on the side does anything. if anything it is like a built in marketing cost.

I recall a couple times when my dad and another family member announced they had 30 days of carfaxes to use and invited everyone to use it in the 30 day window. I'm ok with that and I think Carfax is too. The vast majority of their revenue isn't generated by people buying their $20 service - it's every dealership in the country using it under license.
