It's also heavier than the LS3.

They also got 4.0 0-60 for the boss. From that very article.

The 3860-pound 1LE posts admirable track numbers, too. Getting to 60 mph from nil takes 4.3 seconds; a quarter mile arrives in 12.7 seconds at 111.8 mph; braking from 60 mph to a standstill takes 101 feet. Most impressive: It achieved a 1.03 g average on the skidpad (for reference, that's stickier than a 2012 Audi R8 GT) and traced our figure eight in 24.2 seconds at an average 0.83 g. Before you Google "2012 Mustang Boss 302 Motor Trend", here are the 'Stang specs you seek: 3640 pound curb weight; 4.0 seconds from 0 to 60 mph; quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds at 115 mph; 60 mph to 0 in 106 feet; 1.0 g skidpad average; figure eight in 24.6 seconds at 0.81 g average. Feel free to discuss below.
Keep in different days and probably different conditions, but still, mightly impressive and why the 1LE is my favorite 5th gen

It's not a dumb question. Not all C5 members are close-minded to the idea that other performance cars might be equal, or even better (gasp!) than the 5th gen Camaros.

I haven't driven a 1LE. I have driven a Boss. They are bad ass, and I would own one if i could justify the cost. That price level is a crowded field. You have the Boss Mustang, loaded Camaro 1LE, and the Challenger SRT8 392. Take your pick. All three are awesome cars.

For $2250 or $2500 with a tune the 1le will beat the boss in a strait line and on a race track.
With some Boss 302s trapping 117mph with just tires I doubt that bro sorry. And 50hp from those mods in the real world it is more like 35 to 40hp.

That's kind of rude.

I have an '11 Mustang GT with the track package (Brembo), I admired the BOSS. But believe me for the price the 1LE is a great car. Track ready and has faster lap times at the track than the Laguna. The only thing is that I prefer the looks of the regular SS Camaro. I'm planing to replace my 5.0 for a 1LE but I'm planing to do some changes to the exterior, I don't like the black vinil on the hood or the rear black spoiler compared to a nice looking stock SS or the great looking Transformer edition.

Since you came to a camaro site and asked this question, you have already made your decision.

The Boss is very nice but it's now overpriced for what it is. Dealers marking it up to $55-60K aren't helping matters either. It's too bad it couldn't just be a $5000 or so add-on package upgrade to avoid the dealer rip-off. But I'm glad Ford did build it because it forced GM to develop the 1LE.

Funny.. Ford builds the mighty Boss to beat the vaunted M3 at Laguna Seca, then Chevy builds the 1LE to beat the Laguna Seca Boss at Virginia Int'l Raceway with just an option package, well done... what's next?

OK, I know, someone will say the 1LE driver at VIR was a pro... an engineer that can drive too, actually. And the Lightning Lap drivers in the Boss LS at VIR are no slouches. Car and Driver takes the best lap from their five best drivers... the difference in drivers can't be four seconds, right. I expect the 1LE to better the Boss by a couple of seconds in the next Lightning Lap test... wonder if they will also lap the 1LE under 3 minutes at VIR... stay tuned.

Development engineer aka test driver.

Reference this handy chart from Car and Driver.
http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...erformance.pdf

At ~9 lbs/HP for the 1LE they are saying the average is in the 3:05+ range.
For Car and Driver to get anywhere below 3 min. would put the 1LE in GTR and Viper ACR levels of over achievement. Not impossible, but improbable.

Considering the charted information above, with a slightly better power to weight ratio and smilarly sticky tires the Boss LS should post a slightly quicker time than the 1LE. The video of the stock 1LE posting a 2:58 and change lap at VIR does seem at least curious if not suspicious.

I hope Car and Driver includes a 1LE in their next Lightning Lap test so we can see just how close the two best handling muscle cars really are. And along those same lines, I look forward to Motor Trend testing the 1LE at Laguna Seca so we can get an impression from Randy Pobst. That guy is fun to watch in the videos from the Best Drivers Car articles.

We should all email car and driver to include the 1LE in the lighting lap and Email motortrend to include the 1LE in amercia's best handling car.
