Everyone should have the dealer inspect your car, but there are definite steps the dealer MUST follow to determine if your SC warrants a replacement.

If they replace one that does NOT meet the criteria spelled out in the bulletin, then GM will NOT reimburse the dealer for either the materials nor the labor the dealer spent on your repair.

Does the new super charger come complete with a new pulley or do they use your old one? They are changing my SC but I have the 2.55 pulley. Not sure if I should remove the pulley and get an original pulley before I take it to the shop for replacement.

Hi everyone,

I have a question about SC replacement. What is the down side using car with this problem.

I only have a CAI and dyno test showed 530rwhp two days ago, so I believe there is no power issue, and I don't hear the rattle noise from inside the car. I don't want to have new problems after SC replacement, so again is it ok driving the car with this problem/issue? it is my DD with 13k miles. And I will be on the track next week for two days.

Thank you,

If you have the rattle and it gets worse it can take down the engine. It's a bulletin not a recall so as mentioned earlier unless it's rattling they won't replace it. Mine was replaced this last week.

First off, I'm pretty sure new S/C will have a pulley on it and it will come with a solid isolator.

If your S/C has a 2.55 pulley then it should also have the solid isolator therefore no need to replace unless the bearing is out (squeeling). Your pulley will have a hub that came with it and is pinned to shaft. None of this is stock and I can't imagine they would change your S/C under warranty. Even if you could get your stock pulley back on the pulley mod would be hard to hide.

The 14's already have the solid coupler.

Some early 14's DON'T have the updated solid isolator in them.

I definitely have it now. calling/going to the dealership tomorrow. Here is the video. It has 4100 miles on it.
Wondering if this is a top priority for them to fix or are they going to keep me in limbo until there good dam ready. I say this cause my dealership is always busy busy.
Man can't help but be a little pissed here.

mine has sounded like a box of marbles since it rolled off the delivery truck. Just recently It started to develop a high pitch intermittent chirp. The recent TSB should hopefully get mine replaced as the dealer did not think anything was up before.

Also taking it in for these other things:
1: npp exhaust blowing out the packing and rattling
2: leaking brake fluid reservoir
3: carbon insert cracking clear coat
4: constant mylink lockup
5: bad supercharger

big list for sure. I am NOT doing the key recall

Hey man that long list sucks for sure and I don't mean to worry you further but from the reading and research I have done... if that intermittent chirping your referring to is an actual whining it's the thing that happens right before engine failure. Read this attached link, especially the last paragraph.
Good thing is I brought my car in today and the tech came outside, I popped the Hood, He listened a bit and said Yep I'm not going to break your balls, will order the new stuff. So at least it was easy to start the process.
Good luck man!

Was at the dealer on Saturday. Not a recall but there is for sure a 10yr 200,000km warranty on the supercharger. A recall is where all produced vehicles are affected but as he explained to me the number of cars with supercharger issues is miniscule to the total production numbers.(made sense). Pulled up my vin in the system with the shop foreman and saw it with my own eyes. Way to stand behind your product GM!

Hope you don't really believe that. It's not a recall but extension of warranty for a reason. There hoping not everyone ever really examines what's going on under that Hood.
If there is a problem in one there will be in all eventually. There all built the same way. If it's not happening now it will more then likely happen.

Mine would only make the rattling or marbling, (whatever you want to call it) sometimes. I didn't hear every time I popped the Hood. So keep checking it. It's inevitable.. (thats what makes sense to me anyways )

I just picked my baby up from having the supercharger replaced and the marbles like noise is no longer an issue. I did experience the flutter like noise at about 800 rpm like GM said the manual cars would have but it is very minor and disappears quickly as the rpm rises.

It feels much stronger at low rpm's and I can hear my blower with the cold air intake as if its louder than before, initially I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me since I've had to go without driving her for 5 days. The boost gauge moves more freely than before also while going thru the gears. Just my feelings on the changes I've noticed so far.

Took my car to the dealer today along with the bulletin from GM, the service manager didn't really know much about it, I showed him the bulletin. I asked he he would try to hear the noise which he did and ordered a new supercharger.
