Torque Stearing
Anyone experience on moderate to heavy acceleration that the car seems like it wants to pull left or right for a moment?
I just started to notice a few months ago that when I give a little punch and the super charger kicks in the car wants to steer a little left. Tire pressure is good all the way around and tread is almost new. No adnormal noise, just a pull! |

You are doing it. It's your body's reaction to the tightening of the sphincter muscle.

torque steer is something that happens in a front wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle. Unless there is a serious issue mechanically like a brake caliper that is stuck, it should be impossible in a rear wheel drive car.

Sven....I've tried it with no hands on wheel so it's not me or my body language.
Guess I need to visit the dealer but most of the techs at a Chevy store have trouble balancing a tire. I think if a caliber were hanging up I would hear it under normal conditions. Also, the tires noise when I first start moving is incredibly loud until heat increases and it's around 60-70 degrees where I'm at. No idea if it's related? |

That was a joke but I am sure it is true for some people. When I had the original goodyears the car would pull to the right or left but that was mainly the tires and the way they tracked and not necessarily under acceleration. I don't feel it as much with the MPSSs.

A limited slip differential should distribute POWER evenly between two drive wheels. Traction is another matter, and even though PTM works pretty damn well, it's not instant especially when you're talking about PTM4 or PTM5. One tire may have 5% better traction, which would result in a perceived pull in either direction from a dig. Plus, the Goodyears like to tramline like crazy.

Definitely feel a pull when under full power. I am supercharged also and I was thinking there is driveline and body flex coming into play.

It may be tracking the surface of the road. Some streets are more crowned than others. Your tires will follow the curve in the road.

The half shaft on the right is almost twice the size, you have to wait for the Traction control to catch up..

I agree totally with the erratic steering under hard acceleration. When I first bought mine I would drive with T/C shut off all the time. When you punched it, watch out. It was everything you could do to keep it on the road. Never mind your own lane. Finally one day I crashed it and did substantial damage to the suspension and driveline. After I got it back from the dealership it was a completely new car. Totally different beast. Straight as an arrow under full throttle. Even with the back tires on fire. Some of the components they changed were full front and rear suspension components on the passenger side, axles, rear end and the entire subframe. So I'm not sure what the issue could have been but I agree, they can be very sketchy with all the nannies shut off from factory anyways.

I agree with this assessment. It's kinda scary at first if you don't realize what is happening. My 95 would just get sideways and you have to do the driving instead of the car. I tried to kick the tail out in the 2015 but it straightens itself up real quick. You can do it but you have to turn the features off. It's better to have them on in most cases.

I had the same problem with mine. I would punch it and I would have to correct it from pulling to the left. After I changed the four rear subframe bushing I had no more pulling issues under acceleration. The right rear almost fell out when I started to remove it. The left bushing was very hard to remove.
