18% and 2.5 upper

i have a 2014 current mods are id850's, 2.5 upper, CAI, headers full exhaust, with a tune... im getting ready to install a HX and i want to eventually get the 18% lower, is this too much for it to handle and will i need anything else to safely run that set up? maybe like a 160 t stat? Thanks in advance

My opinion:
1) You'll need a camshaft and supporting valvetrain mods. Otherwise, you'll just be pumping heat and you'll also be out of octane at that level of cylinder pressure (if you were to keep the stock cam).
2) More fuel. JMS BAP or equivalent at a minimum.

If you want to stay away from a cam, 8.66 (11%) lower is about as far as you can go with the 2.5 upper. You'd still need a BAP for that, too. I have the equivalent of this setup at the moment on 93 octane (10" 28% lower w/ stock upper), and I'm as far as I can go without a cam. There is no knock, but unless it's 50-60 degrees outside, IAT2's climb into timing-pulling territory pretty quickly.

EDIT: I assume you've already got a set of colder plugs- if not, I'd add those.

thats correct i got rid of the stock spark plugs. man i really was hoping i could get away with the id850s and not have to add BAP.

I'm running the set up you want and with the id850s i was no where near 100% duty cycle on the injectors but i do have a cam.

You will need a BAP

That would be a really expensive mistake to not address the additional fueling needs with more boost
