Gas milage

I was wondering which is better to drive in d, m using tapshift, or m and letting the car shift for me at least for gas milage?

Probably D, however, I don't think its a huge difference..... the only reason why I say D over M is b/c M usually keeps the RPMs higher for longer when accelerating (depending on how fast ur going). M tap shift may be better than D mode if you keep it in the highest gear possible for the speed youre going. You probably wont see more than 1mpg difference tho... unless ur driving Ms. Daisy.

I've ran a few tanks on D and S to see which would give me better results, and S ended up being a pinch better. I think the reason being is it does not lug the engine as much as D. I don't use M very often, so I can't help you there.

This.

Although I'm in "M" all day, urrahday. My mpgs average out to around 16.2 after a few weeks, I reset the counter. A few weeks later, 16.2 like clockwork.

If I set the cruise at 78mph I can get right at 24mpg, and if I'm in town and being good I'll get 17mpg.

Many long distance trips with my L99 SS. Easy driving with cruise control on and off @ 65-75 MPH and I always seem to get from 22 t0 23 MPG. Never more than 23.4 no matter how hard I try. I do this just for fun and bordom and my Solo J-pipes don't help-- lol.
Also not bad as my window sticker says "25 highway".
PS: I dont care what the MPG is- I just have to laugh whenever I pass a Smart car or Mini Cooper- Nothing like comfort and style.

It definitely should... Highway/street driving will make a difference plus AFM (obviously mine is inactive) but even if you're drivin her hard and all street you should avg better than 16....

Allan, you should be getting better mileage that 15. You must have your foot in it. I have a 2SSRS with the LS3. In town keeping it around 2000 RPM I can get 17 MPG. I just went on a small trip to watch my son in a baseball tournament. It was around 160 miles each way with half 75 MPH and the other half 55 MPH. I averaged 26.5 watch9ng how I drove. I did go 83 for several miles on the freeway but most was staying within the limits. If I put my foot into it more, the mileage drops to around 24 MPG. I have a little over 1400 miles on the car.

Yeah I don't drive her to hard although i do like to step on it every once in a while but not to justify 16 MPGs! The weird part about it is that theres been times were the DIC reads as low as 14.8!

33 MPG on a good day (summer)
26 MPG on a bad day (winter)

Avg. 29 consistently on the Highway.

Yeah I don't know how people are getting such high numbers in their sixes either. I'm around 18 MPG with about 40 city/60 hwy.

I was expecting at least 20.

But no big deal.
