MRT 2.0 to Solo Mach X-LFX Cat-Back Exhaust

So....

Around two years ago when I joined this form I saw everyone raving about the MRT 2.0 exhaust.

So I took the plunge and purchased them. Well after several thousand miles I just couldn't take the cabin drone. So I then went to a custom muffler shop and had them install some 29" J-Pipes. This helped but the cabin drone is still a bit much....maybe I'm getting to old. lol

I do track my car and I love the WOT of the MRT 2.0 but I've heard nothing but great things from the Solo Mach X-LFX Cat-Back Exhaust system. I live way easy of most track events so I have to drive 1-2 just to get there and the long drive with drone is getting old. I can only bump my stereo on high for so long. lol

I've listen to several YouTube vids and the WOT on the Solo seems about the same. But the added drone killing in the cabin would be nice on the Solo system.

Anyone else done this change from MRT 2.0 to Solo system?

Thx

i went with the resonated x-pipe and muffler delete and i love it. have you thought about adding the resonated x-pipe to your mrt's?

hmmm never mind, i read your sig and see you have the resonated x-pipe already.

I had MRT V1 and now V2 so to put it in to prospective if V2 has drone consider this x3 more then that on V1. And Resonated X pipe + MRT is not the way to go. In my case, I was trying to eliminate the drone as well but it proved only to be a waste of money.

So my apologies for the long notes but here is my experience so far:
Step 1)
So long story short I added the Magnaflow resonated X pipe in addition to the MRT V1 because it came suggested here on the forum to tone it down, because it was crazy loud and helps with the drone...and it sure did!! But not a little bit by a lot! It chocked the sound of it, I was very disappointed because I could no longer hear the nice tone.... of the exhaust and the drone was still quite noticeable.

Step 2)
I removed the V1 because I could not take the drone no more and got V2, at the same time left the resonated X pipe in, and sure enough no drone !!! But as a consequence of such big resonated X pipe it did choke down my exhaust note as well so my MRT V2 was no where to be heard

Step 3)
I removed the resonated X pipe I and little did I know I did not put the H pipe or anything ... so only straight stock pipes and <MRT V2 muffler, sounded good up till 2300 RPM and then what a crap... raspy... I could not believe it.. So after a little bit of search I found out the role of the H pipe, and X pipe ( not resonated!).. and I had one custom made, and moved it a little bit on the location from the original one, more towards the engine and got my nice sound back and no drone.

You are local if you want we can get together and you can hear it how it sounds.

29" j-pipes might be a little too short for the drone range that you drive in, I don't remember where I put mine, but, I don't get the drone back until 80-85. I will have to measure them. I am still happy with my stock H, MRT v1 and custom J-Pipes.

Thx for your comments Goran!

I've been watching your build and your car looks great.

Do you go to any car meets that we might hook up so I can hear your exhaust?

Thank you my friend! It is special journey with my Camaro for sure, unlike all the other cars I have had... this car is special.

I'm still hesitant to go to the Borrego Springs cruise next Sunday will see, how time develops...
I was just at the Extreme auto-show this weekend, with lots of my Camaro enthusiasts from the HT club. As for next meet I don't know when and where. I do go to Irvine Cars and Coffee too, but I usually like to go everywhere where we have good Camaro gathering.. lots of times I even drive down to Oceanside

I'm open pretty much, if you have any meets coming up soon, I could probably drive up to you?

I loved the sound on my V1, probably the best sound on V6 Camaro you can get, but it was a bit to loud for my taste, and the drone was over the top especially at 2000 to 2500Rpm ... I could not stand it.....it was obnoxious. It was like going 30-40Mph...not even... and the exhaust screaming like I'm going 160Mph.. so just over the top for me.

I'm glad to here that you did eliminate the problem with j-pipes, I have heard that fix here on the forums before, but for some reason I have never tried it...
