LS3 Clutch Weight?
Anyone know the weight of the LS3 clutch assembly? This would be flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disk.

Well, I need to do a clutch and dont have the money to do a $2500 dollar clutch. Carolina Clutch has a package with a LS7 clutch and a lightweight flywheel that weighs 42 lbs total. Not a huge savings but its something and it all costs $650. Looks like it should hold my 485 rwhp and 445 rwtq OK. Hard to make up my mind.

It is almost 60#. I run a 18.5 lbs clutch and its amazing how fun ia the car now. Id look into Spec/Quarter Master clutch or anything between 25-30# on the streets. You can upgrade the clutch material to have better drivability.
I remember Spec had nice 25-28lbs cheap clutch kit, single disc. Mine is a Mini Twin. I would not recommend for a DD or without gears& light wheels.

so many people recommend the heavy clutches im nervous to get a light weight one. Monster makes nice clutches but the single disk ones are almost the same weight as the stock stuff with their 18 lb flywheel. The owner said he does NOT recommend the lightweigh flywheel for the street. $uck this dump truck weight clutch.

I have a 2015 SS 1LE with the OEM clutch, and believe me, its easy peasy compared to pushing a Kenworth W900 clutch that pulls 160000 lbs daily. |

LOL, I am not worried about the pedal effort, I want to reduce the rotating mass to free up power. My 1LE clutch is supper easy pedal push too!

I think I am going to do the Monster level 2 single disk. Its overall weight with the lightweight flywheel is 11 lbs lighter than the LS3 factory assembly (from what I read it should free up about 8 rwhp) and will hold 550 rwtq (car makes 450 rwtq). Its priced around 750 which is in my budget and gets great reviews.
Ya a RPS Billet Twin would be nice and free up more power but I just simply cant afford a $2500 clutch. |
