What's wrong with some dealers
Went look at a ZL1 yesterday.
The dealer didn't want to budge much on price, trying to make it sound like I was getting the car at a deal already. I know a Vert is more expensive option to start with, but this seems a little much. http://www.allstarautomotive.com/New...LA/vd/13346515 Just in case anyone asks, the Shelby will be paid by the end of the year so it's staying. |

Where I live, we have a ton of Chevy dealers. One of the large ones charges a lot for their cars. Best I can figure is: 1)They would rather sell 1 car for a $4,000 profit, than 4 cars at $1,000 each and 2)There are enough people with money that won't shop around and will buy something they like without researching if the dealer convinces them it's a good deal. In contrast, one of the other big dealers sells cars at big discounts with good service. They move tons of cars. Not sure which one makes more money at the end of the day, but its obvious which one gets my business. Some dealers would rather hold a car and hope to sell it at a high profit than sell it today. Particularly in the case of a ZL1 where they might only sell a few all year.
I feel I got a very good deal on my 2014 ZL1, so shop around, good prices can be found if you are willing to do a little work, and give it some time.. |

^^ I'm not in any hurry, like mentioned before I'm still paying on the Shelby until the end of the year, BUT if I do come across a good deal I'll pick up a ZL1.

Are you specifically looking for a convertible? I see great deals on coupes all of the time.

For some reason, some people would rather sit on something than make money albeit maybe less than they would like.
I see it with commercial real estate all the time - somebody would rather let a place sit vacant and lose money on it than rent it for less than he imagines it's worth, which is usually way more than it actually is. It's very strange. |

For a '14 I'd say that its an ok price, but for a '13 the dealer should be much more generous.
My old motto remains: "shop around."

Research the car you want, and Dealer shop with price printouts and options. You'll find a dealer that will try to beat another dealers price especially towards end of month or better yet end of August or end of year. Research dealers within a 200 mile radius. That's the only way to get a decent price.
