5th gen camaro weight.
So it has come to my attention that both GM and Ford are planning to drop the weight of their pony cars. (Most likely with the production of the 6th gen).
Right now i feel like although it feels a little heavy its weight helps it stick the the ground a little better more so directed at the SS. I have seen both Camaros and Mustanges take off and i feel the mustangs low weight makes it burn out longer and not take turns as well at higher speed? I think the camaro is at a good weight right now does anyone agree or disagree? if they make the 6 gen camaro after the 2ed gen looks im never gonna buy it. Ill have to get what ever the last years zl1 is lol...

From a LLT perspective I would love it if mine could go on a diet and lose a few pounds. But not a big deal since I'm more of a cruiser than a racer.
I agree with you that if the next gen reflects then gen 2 then it could go bad. However I have faith in Chevy this time around not to ruin a good thing. |

Weight makes a car slow, not "stick". Drive a lotus or corvette and then decide if they need more weight to perform. 2 tons is way too much for a sports car to weigh if you drive competitively or want good mileage.

I love Kaylee and think she's perfect, but if she could lose like ~350 pounds? Well I might buy her something shiny next time I go to Back Street Performance.

If there was a way my SS convertible could weigh 800 pounds less, keep the same drive train and look the same as it does I would be extremely happy. It would improve the performance in every way. I had a 370z convertible that weighed 3,500, only had 332 horsepower, and was almost identical to my Camaro for 0-60 and quarter mile times. Just think if it had 426 horsepower. That's the difference a few hundred pounds of weight makes.

Less weight is always better. The mustang slaughters the camaro SS cause it's 200 lbs lighter and has almost the same power. And the camaroS burnout a lot longer than the mustang does. It's hard to get either to launch without wheelspin but the camaro is a nightmare sometimes. And the camaro "sticks" better because it has a better suspension, not because it weighs 3800 lbs. Too much weight in a corner is a bad thing as well. It will send you into the woods in a hurry.

3860 lbs does not make for a very competitive car performance wise. If you want a safer car, get a Volvo. Sports cars and muscle cars are dangerous by nature. It comes with the territory.
