Shooting for that "old school" sound

Hey gang! Soon I'll be pulling the trigger on a '10 2SS (tring to land a early spring delivery).

Can anyone lend some help on how to produce that "old school" exhaust sound.

I'm thinking long tubes, mufflers, and jetison the cats - but what do I need specifically ie: JBA vs LG vs SPL; 1-3/4in vs 1-7/8in; cats vs no cats?

I've scowered You Tube but nothing really comes close.

This is on Youtube...

It is just Flowmaster catback... I am not sure how it would sound without cats and with nice headers...

I agree that the Flowmaster is gonna get you closer to the old school sound. While it sounds good, I don't think the Magnafllow sounds old school at all.

I had to meet a client at a gas station the other day and as I was looking for it I passed it and had to come back around to pull in. There was a work crew there doing some landscaping in the front of the store. While I was waiting for the client to arrive, some of the workers came over to talk about the car. As we were talking one of them asked about the exhaust. I metioned that eventually I'm gonna do a cam and put headers on it and change the exhaust and they said that when I drove by the first time and gassed on it, they were all wondering if it was the V6. It was only when I pulled up that they saw the SS on it. One guy was gonna ask if I put SS on it to make it look like an SS. He said he would have just been joking but they all agreed that the exhaust was disapointing and weak. I'd have to agree.

You should look up TAG UR IT's car. It has a full Stainless Works system. He made two videos. Closest sound to Nascar I've heard. I've bought the cat-back version for my SS.

Put it in low gear when you want people to hear ya. They will know what you drive.

Full exhaust, no cats, and a mild cam

Yeah, a cam is a huge part in that lope sound.
Probably won't sound as good as a big block, but it'll make a difference in sound.
