Palm Beach Dyno. They are primarily Mustang but do GM also. Probably part of the reason

Many tricks in the tune to sort this. You can adjust torque follower, the amount the throttle blade sits open etc etc you need a good street tune. Dyno is just the yee haw factor.

Cam surge is normal unloading of the weight of drivetrain when placing it in neutral as the engine can now spend free...……. it should vary with engine speed and load....and the shop is wise to not spin it higher the torque is dropping off and that's what moves you, to spin it to the moon is not wise and that's when you get passed...…. torque is what moves you, and most cams and etc are only tested to 7k where a ls7 has its red line with its different 1.8 ratio rockers. With the ls7 small bore with 1.8 rocker style heads I would think your redline should be raised to 7k though....And you must not have asked for the raised redline which is simple but hey you cant get what you don't ask for.... not a automatic thing for a ls3 engine most shops may up you a couple hundred revs if asked other than that raising redlines usually accompany a large $$$$ on the top end with bars on the rockers etc..... Good Luck. Places like RDP etc doing higher revving engines sell custom rocker set ups etc, I myself like also Livernois for their rocker stands for ls3 heads, I think Lingenfelter sells some also for ls3, just some things I have learned over time. Your Hp is dropping off then but should carry on falling slowly and the torque will drop off more heavily as it already is and usually is more in the 5500 falling range. Myself I want to see unsmoothed graph just like on the dyno and your torque curve is pretty strong yet does kind of waiver there up high and makes me wonder if some better tuning would have helped the torque curve...… heres a old one of mine on a mustang dyno with AFR mild cam stroked, it was kind of low on ink at the time.

Thats what I am going to do as well, but not right now. I don't have traction or wheelhop issues, thankfully. If you're having traction issues it should definitely help, and to drop some rotational weight and get some better weight transfer

So called the tune shop about the issue and he cut me off mid sentence and said "Ahh I know what it is, does it happen above 50mph?" That is exactly the case, above 50 it doesn't actually stop revving or "Surging?". He said he will set the number to like 245 to get rid of it. Does that sound like the proper thing to do?

That motor is begging for a good intake, You can see it can not get enough air to continue the natural power curve as it flat lines and slopes off. It should have a nice arc to it. Be interesting to see a good change in your set up.

Yah its a lame cam also low lift, I have to wait until my bankruptcys paid off...paying for daughters neuroscience degree....no shi………..But its going some day to hopefully get the GPI max kit with airforce or maybe even a LOD if they come out good and make power for a ls7 type head.... My fifth gen is a keeper no matter what, I may get a used hellcat for fun someday though down the road also after I put money back into the Camaro. SIGH>>>>>>>>>>>> but hey good stuff gets developed in the mean time. And I have a fully forged short block maybe I could use a little FI and a zl1 rear and skip a kitty..... dreams are like...………. But its a good daily driver for now torquey...…, got a conservative cam on purpose because I knew I was going to bite the bullet with my wife and pay off everything over 5 years, about 2 1/2 to go....SIGH, and yup had to have a aortic dissection, but hey I just have been doing all the home improvement stuff in the mean time...…….
