I would not remove my insulation, but I will say that one thing I have always done with all my cars - after I return from driving and pull it into the garage, I lift the hood and leave it that way for at least a few hours, or until I need to drive it again. This allows excess heat to escape. This would be the most important time that I'd see as a worry for releasing heat.

I'll take before and after readings with my non-contact thermometer. I'll take readings with it installed and with it off. I'll take a reading of the outside surface of the hood (in the shade) and then a reading of the engine cover with and without the insulation. Anything else you'd like a reading from?

Omg, I thought it would at least be all the same color even if it wasn't cleared!

I know it's an old thread, but does anyone know if the liner is there to help the paint over the engine? I do not have a liner on mine currently and some people have said it could bubble the paint. I've got heard of this happening, so I'm hoping there is no truth behind it.
Also my car had hail damage so I got an all new hood and the bottom is fully painted and cleared! They don't make the GM stripes anymore either so my stripes aren't stickers, they are painted on and cleared with the hood. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

If you really want to see under hood temps drop , take off the engine cover take out the rain tray on the hood and run ceramic coated headers and use header wrap where the headers are close to the oil cooler.
