Nav Road Hazard Notification

When my nav feels the need to tell me there is a freeway entrance closed or a hazard ahead, it speaks to me at the same time that it makes an audible chime which prevents me from clearly hearing what it's saying. This cannot be as designed. Does this happen to others as well?

Yup... I have yet to attempt to disable the chimes in the Nav menu... if even possible.

I've gotten a chime and then the notice. Strangely enough I'm so into my music and focused on driving that by that time all of this comes about I have no idea what's what other than there is something ahead I should be aware of. I've only had it happen a couple of times unlike when I use Waze which is a premier free app that gives alerts way ahead of time and more specific.

I don't notice an overlap but don't particularly appreciate the seemingly constant "lane narrows" warnings.

Yep, it's like it cuts out the key information with that chime. Not ideal, but hasn't been annoying enough for me to remember it outside of when it doesn't happen and to look into "fixing" it. I get issues with text messages, too - one comes through and I press the voice button to hear it only to have another one come through and steal the limelight. Not a major issue again, as if I'm driving I'm probably not all that interested in being interrupted anyway, but annoying on occasion for sure.

Another note on nav, actually - does it ever update the maps? If so, how often? Or is there some sort of manual process one needs to partake in? It's not entirely uncommon for me to have things missing, or even roads show on the map that no longer exist. The last dealer update was when I had Android Auto added to the Infotainment system back in August/September 2016.

I've noticed this many times. Kind of irritating and a little silly that it works that way. The timing is off.

Waze is what you want. I just recently started using it and it is very helpful.
