Engine noise
Hey folks, just recent I heard this noise coming from my engine. I have some mods on the car and considering those, this noise was loud. It does go away after a few minutes or when the car warms up. It is a 2015 SS. Any thoughts on what it is?

I’d start by checking my pulleys . Have you’ve taken the belt off and spun your pulleys ?

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me, my Mustang did that same whistling thing when I installed a custom intake adapter on it, didn't seal properly.

All previous suggestions are great. My $.02, check idler pulley bearing or such. Bearings can scream at you like that as well. Seams that the noise got louder near idler pulley, but it’s tough to tell as vacuum leak is as also a good suggestion.
Good luck |

You can try spraying some some throttle plate cleaner around the intake manifold and hoses and see if idle changes to try and narrow it down. If it is a vacuum leak.

Easy way to find a vacuum leak........ take a big fat cigar and blow the smoke through a vacuum line. If you got leaks it's pretty obvious lol. Works everytime.

Holy crap! Grab a defibrillator, she flatlined! Wow, that is really loud.
That does sound like it could be vacuum related as said above. Either a leak, failure, or clog of one of the vacuum related parts up front, ie. evap, PCV system, or something that can create a sort of a 'whistle' if clogged just right. No CEL codes eh? Hopefully it's something easy to replace like a idler pulley. Does it change pitch with rpm? If you disconnect a vacuum hose does it change tone, volume, or pitch? Let us know what you find.

I'll tinker with it tomorrow. I'm not too savy with all the vacuum hoses so I'll look around and see. I do notice it alot louder to the left front of the engine block but when I rev it up a bit, it goes away and doesn't come back.
