Bought mine at 48, went through the same thing, my ex is a good person and great mom to our kids it just don't work out, she put me through hell but who gives a shit now. Is it a midlife crises who knows, I enjoy the car and working on it, it's therapy it takes my mind off of the pain at least for a little bit.

If you have always been a car guy, then to me, it's not a mid life crisis, it's just the same you, living how you always did. I'm of the thinking, who gives a damn what others think, with the exception of your family.

I bought mine the week I stopped paying my ex. Finally able to get something for myself after paying for a second home. Not a midlife crisis at 48 because I'm not at midlife yet. Oh and I bought a 15' Jaguar XF

Mine was a forty-fifth birthday present to myself, and I've referred to it as my midlifecrisismobile, but I did that with my 40th birthday present to myself, and my thirty-fifth, and my thirtyth... I might have struck on a theme here.

My take is, who knows when our time here will end? Until it does, I'm going to have fun to the best of my ability to do so. That's pretty much been a life long habit. I don't see it ending anytime soon.

So, no, I don't actually think of it as a symptom of a mid-life crisis, more a symptom of a life well lived.

My dad got an SS at about 58, sold it for a turbo Mini Cooper that he plans on modding at 60 a couple months ago. Midlife crisis? Nah you're good, you just enjoy cool cars!

I got mine at 57. Unless you just left your wife for a younger woman, and never wanted one before, but now have to have one to impress your new girlfriends friends, I would not classify it as one. Just for reference look up the statistics for the average age of a Corvette owner....last I looked it is 59
