Powermaster 9509XS Starter

Ok, so I bought this starter and I'm having my tuning shop that does custom work put the starter in. I've heard of other people on here that have this starter on their camaros but they're telling me it won't fit and that it's rubbing against the engine, etc. I paid good money for this better starter so now I'm kind of at a loss for what to do.

Is their a specific way it needs to go on or something I could tell them?

Find a different shop. Any shop that touts custom work, tuning, etc., should know how to put an aftermarket starter on.

It can be adjusted. Hell, a speed shop can't put a starter in? Didn't it come with instructions?

Yea, I know, sounds a bit ridiculous. Well I contacted powermaster last night and they laughed and said they're going to have one of their engineers call them today to explain to them what to do and find out why it supposedly "won't fit". Also, yes, the powermaster guy said, "I mean did they even read the instructions" so yes lol, I guess it does come with directions. Might be the last time I go there. Something sounds fishy...

Lol. I'm glad you're getting it sorted out. Hopefully the shop can follow their instructions and get you squared away. I agree, may be time to find another shop.

UPDATE: Powermaster talked to rabid customs (my shop) and turns out it was a clocking issue. Clearly did not read the instructions on this starter, but they got it installed! Still questioning why they didn't know how to clock a high torque starter .

You should like it I love mine, and yes its not brain surgery ...OMG if they have never clocked a aftermarket starter you may have a 18 year old working on your car.....WITH RABIES..... it does require cutting off and replacing the stock end of a wire with a loop end and bending the end of the battery cable also...…… and trash the stock heat shield.... and you have to make sure it does not touch the sensor that comes out the side of the oil pan next to the starter....SO in other words you may want to inspect their work for yourself...That's it..... If my local tire store did it for me.....they may be MEH....
