How do you turn OFF the auto mirror dimming feature?

I read the manual and can't seem to find the off button. Does anyone know how to turn off the auto dimming for the driver mirror and rearview mirror?
Thanks for the help.

Im not sure how but I know what you mean my last car had it and it was very annoying. Don't worry, the good news is it stops working in about a year or so because the technology is garbage. The bad news is about a couple years after that is starts to tarnish the mirror and makes wierd looking spots everywhere.

This isnt what happened to mine but its similar.

Never heard of this problem before. My mom's '99 Mercury Grand Marquis has this feature too and it still looks and works like the day it came off the line.

I have it in my NITRO.. there's a button on the mirror to turn it off. (no onstar) It's a 2007 and still works fine and doesn't look like the mirror above.

Not sure about the GM auto dims, but I have a 2000 Mercury with the auto dim mirror. I have had no reason to disable it, but I don't think you can. I love it!! The car is 10 years old and 175k miles, it works and looks as good as the day I bought the car new.

On both of my Avalanche's, you could not turn it off. I suspect that most GM cars can not turn this off (without unpluging the whole mirror).

Solution: Swap it with someone that has a 1SS, 1LT, or LS model.

I just got my car 24 Jun and noticed on or around the 1st of July that my right/passenger side mirror is no longer dimming. Is there a way to power cycle it? I'll probably stop in at the dealers on Friday. :(

Sorry to tell you. The right side mirror never dimmed. Only the inside and left outside mirror auto dim.

Did you check in the DIC menu? I thought I saw some cars with the autodimming option in there.
