Question LED Switch? Help!

Hi, I hooked up an LED strip behind the grill of my Camaro (See Sig) and i hooked it up with an LED rocker switch but when i hook it up it either lights up the LED on the switch and the LED strip is dim or if i hook it up to the other terminal the LED strip is on bright but the LED on the switch is off all together.. How can i set it up so the LED lights up and also the LED Strip???

Thanks

How did you wire it up? There should be 3 pins on the switch (12 volts in, 12 volts out to light strip, and a ground) Is your source of power 12 volts +? Did you use any resistors or anything?

Yeah theres the 3 Pins. the middle one is for the main power input and the 2 others on each side which i hooked the power output to the led strip and depending which side i hooked into i got the above results.. are you saying i need to run one side of the switch to the ground that the LED strip is grounded to? yes its 12v

From what you've described, it sounds like your lights, or switch, are not grounding properly. The LED strip, as well as the the rocker, must go to a ground source. You can do this separately, or you can wire the strip ground back to the switch, and another wire from a ground source on the frame to the same terminal. If the switch terminals are not labeled you may have to experiment to figure out which one should be used for ground. If this does not help, you could try calling AAC Style. They're pretty knowledgeable when it comes to wiring LED lights. Best of luck, that light looks cool!

I want to wire up a multi rocker switch panel with a master switch. Can someone please post a link of sample wiring diagrams or draw me up some that I could use. I want to wire my neons to it and only be able to have them on if the master is on and the other corresponding switch. This is obviously so I can shut off everything with just one switch. I'm also not sure as to the gauge wire I should be using on the master and others. Any help would be appreciated.

Heres a rough diagram i made up for you. you should get the main idea. if your switches don't have LEDs on them then you probably won't have to ground them.

as for the wire gauge i would go about one size larger then whatever your neon light wires are. i think they would be about 22 gauge so i would use 20 gauge. good luck!

Great, thanks for the quick response. I have 2 other questions. If the switch that I am using as a master only has 2 pins, then I am assuming that one is ground and the other must be split to every other switch. Secondly, If my switches do have LED's, can i daisy all the grounds to the main switch ground, or do they have to be grounded separately?

No problem lol
if it only has 2 pins then it doesn't get grounded. one gets the power and the other one goes to the other switches.

those other switches can all be grounded to any bare metal so yes they can be grounded together you don't need to run a separate ground for each one.

good luck and if you have anymore questions let me know.

Here is how your wiring should be:

Make sure to check your grounds and resistance (if any).

Correct, if there are only 2 pins, then one pin is for +12v input and the other is to the accessory or additional switches.
