Commits weekly crime
|
Heck, even with the new Mustang that slated to be out...what's the big deal. Ford still makes the slower car. That'll be their top of the line car, where we will have the Corvette ZR1.
Eat tail lights, Ford....

I'm sorry to those posts that were deleted because of quotes. There was some trash to sweap away...
If I remember correctly, unless the Track Key and front splitter were legalized for street-use, this is a car equipped for racetracks that a TRUE streetcar has beaten around this particular track... KUDOS GM. Considering how much for Ford boys put into the LS, it's great to see GM accomplish what it has with ZL1, and to think this is the first year, it's only going to get better To those that still complain about the weight with what appears for no regard for anything else: "...Coupled with a stiffer body and more compliant suspension, the Camaro is a more capable car around the track..." I guess that extra weight to make a better car does amount to something...

I think that Motor Trend wanted to test the top track cars from Ford and Chevrolet, and the ZL1 and the Boss 302 fit that bill. From the testing that I've seen, it appears that the GT500 is better suited to a straight line than a road course.

Good point! If the argument is that they didn't compare the top of the line Ford muscle with the ZL1, then let's go back to the track with the GT500 vs. ZR-1..... I'm just sayin.....

I want to see 1/4 mile run on the same track at the same time. I mean, how many of us actually run our cars at a track and how many at the strip? LS is a great tool to measure handling performance, but I am a 1/4 kind of person just as most Camaro/Mustang people are. I understand that the Boss is a track car, but I am very interested to see them both at a strip. Last I checked the Boss will be about equal in the 1/4. ZL1 ran 12.3 and the Boss ran the same at 115.

I think the article is spot on with all points, I don't see a single error in it.
The Lugana Seca is a faster track car than the current GT500, so they put up their fastest lap time car up against the fastest lap time Camaro. The '13 GT500 comparison to the ZL1 will be interesting. One of their last statements was also very accurate.... going to need a bigger track. Take the '13 ZL1 and the '13 GT500 over to the 'Ring, and lay the laps down with the same pro driver. It will also be interesting to see the price point of the GT500. If it's in supercar dollars, take a Z06 and ZR1 along for giggles. |

That's why I backed out of buying a ZL1 and started modding my SS.

I thought the ZL1 did the quarter in 12.1? I'm sure someone on here is going to break into the 11s without trying too hard

Power to weight, power to weight... The ZL1 will most likely be way stronger than the new GT500, I don't care what horse power number is being shown. The strength and technology in the ZL1 is what I believe will carry it in the long run. Like most keep stressing, for the money, look at what your getting! I think once it hits the streets and we as consumers get to drive it, it's gonna surprise a lot of people. The wait is almost over, let's not let numbers from a source that's obviously one sided get people upset and doubtful.
And if its just a "track car", then why wouldn't it be perfect for road driving. The streets aren't a drag strip... This cars gonna handle like a dream in any conditions. |
