The issue is not the key but the angle the key is at in the run position along with its location on the steering column. Other cars have the same type key but the switch design and location on the column do not allow for the knee to switch it off.
On my Spark the angle of the key is such that if you hit it with your knee it would more than likely turn to the start position instead of off.

The last I heard the dealers have been told not to allow the opt out choice.
I signed the opt out sheet then a couple months later got an email saying i had not completed the recall.

called gm and argued with some girl reading nonsensical scripts that didn't once answer of my questions. this recall is total hog wash!!

Time to find a new dealer! My dealer could care less. They don't even mention anything about it since I told them the first time I wasn't interested. I do get the post card in the mail every couple weeks but in the trash it goes. I haven't received any phone calls yet or emails. So far.
