Wheel Backspace Recommendations

Friends; I am currently running OEM 21" wheels on my 2014 Camaro. As we all know the 21" tires are pricey to say the least. I have also found the ride to be a little less quality than the 20". Besides unable to rotate these buggers I have decided I am going to build me a set of 20" wheels.

What I really would like is to have a set of the 1LE wheels like the picture I will add. And... I really want to have a "SQUARE SETUP" with all four wheels having the same backspace. Wheels that I can mount 245/40/20 tires.

What wheel specs would you folks that are much more well versed with this than I use?

Wheels 20"
Width ?

Backspace ?
Tires 245/40/20

My thanks, Larry

actually...….go with a 20 x 9....with a 40mm offset (stock configuration for SS's) and run the 275/40's puts a little more meat on the ground and fits like a champ. ran this SQUARED SET-UP for a long time.

Thank you very much for the response and most valued advise! I will now start looking for a set of 20" OEM black wheels. Larry

If you want to run a 245 width tire, stick to a 20x9" with something between a +20mm offset and a +35mm. Anything greater than that will be pretty tucked in.

If you want to run a 275 width tire, you really should run a wider wheel. 275 on a 9" wide is a waste as the outer edges won't even be touching the pavement. It is a much better fit for a 9.5" or even 10" wide wheel, both of which can fit the front or rear and be rotated no problem.

Cory, thank for taking the time and render your advise, it's very much appreciated. I am still shipping around, hoping to find a fair deal on a set of black OEM wheels, haven't decided which style yet. Difficult time finding a square setup and especially with ZERO curb rash!
