I have the LS3 and wouldn't call it "drone". Yes, I can hear the exhaust when cruising but not the annoying drone that many people are worried about. I actually turn the radio down so I can listen while I drive. It sounds that good! I also had FMs on the 1991 Mustang 5.0 I sold to buy this car...now that was drone for sure. No burble, just a loud huuuuuummmmmm at certain cruising speeds. FMs on the Camaro LS3 can be heard but it is not the annoying drone of the Mustang I had. Some Camaro L99 owners need to chime in because I've read where just about anything drones when it changes into 4-cyl mode on the L99. Hope this helps.

I have a V6 and not sure it makes a difference but to answer your question, NO!
I love the sound of my car now, and not to have those two galvanized cans displayed in the back was well worth the switch. No, I don't have a drone. I do have a nice sounding exhaust that is not too loud for me to enjoy my smooth jazz or the company of conversation of a tender lovely sitting to my right. Over all I'm very pleased! When I want it to be loud, if can be loud and modulated with the accelerator but over all, it's very tame. Not sure if this helps you are not but no one else chimed in.

Just put on the American Thunder cat back on my 2SS auto, no drone, just a nice hum at cruise. Very pleased.

thanks for the input jmrod. but i do think that's how 40 series tend to sound. every car may be a bit different but yeah, it can get bad in certain cars. i just did my wifes titan with 40 series and it sounds freakin great and the drone is minimal. i was missing the old chambered sound so i was wondering how the 40 series were on the camaros. i know on the mustangs they sounded great on the outside, but mad drone inside. i added so much sound deadening to my cobra for that reason. the way my camaro sits now is actually pretty damn good. it has the aggressive sound with NO drone at all. i need to post some sound clips.

purple hornies with resonators removed, incase you were wondering. thanks for the info guys.

I would agree with the comments above and say that there isnt much of a drone at all. I have the American Thunder system on my LS3 and I think it sounds awesome. When cruising around 2K rpms it has a low growl but nothing annoying. Lots of lookers as you drive past them on the road.

It sounds mean as hell when your hard on it but when you are cruising with your girl....you can easily carry on a conversation.

I added 40's to my stock exhaust. The sound is Awesome. I was thinking about putting an X pipe on to, but maybe I'll wait until after I do Cam and headers. I'll do a full cat back system then. Can't wait...
