1LE against 392 Challenger
So with all the hype about our 1LE's being the best around all the curves, has anyone ran a 392 Challenger is a straight line? I've seen tons of videos of the Challenger crushing the Camaro's in a straight line, but not very many on the 1LE. The Challenger is a heavier, but has more power.
I ran one and he got me off the line, because I was spinning, but every time had my chance to pass, the road curved (he was moving to the center line) and I let off. Once I got into 4th, my car had lots more power. But given the roads I just let off. My car only has a CAI, and that's it. But I was still able to keep up, and I think I could have passed him if we had a better road. I'm sure he felt like he dragged me through the mud, but I think I could have caught him and passed him. He was up by about 1 car or so. Anyone else? |

Those cars are boat anchors... even with the extra power... they shouldn't be much of a contender in a straight line and any cornering takes em completely out of the picture frame.

Hate to tell you but ours are boat anchors too. In a straight line it would be a wash depending on driver. I've seen them run mid 12's and a few in the low 12's stock. The 12's and up have a better suspension system then previous years ,but I believe a 1LE would still edge it out on a handling track.

Hate to also tell you those boat anchors are faster than any 1LE, it hangs with the CTS-V and ZL1 bone stock they see low 12s and a set of tires they see 11.90s

ROAD COURSE JUNKIE
|
It's a drivers race I think. I ran against a couple on two different road courses. At willow I smoked him. At ACS we were pretty even. I was a tad faster on lap times and on the straights we were pretty even. I am sure with the better gear ratio in a 1LE it would be easier to pull on one. My car was bone stock.

The fact that we didn't have the best road, plays a part in my run with the 392. I think if we were on a straight solid road, it would be close. From a roll it would be different as well, but who knows. I didn't buy my 1LE to do a road course, I got it because I love the car. I've owned 2 other Camaros and this one is the fastest. With some headers, I could have walked him down. But we will never know, lol. I think my car held up just fine, considering the situation.

i wonder if the admin is going to catch the street racing story.. but the 392 srt8s are fast but they are also much more money. a fully loaded 392 is well into the $50,000 price point. a fully loaded 2SS 1LE maybe $42-ish. you get what you pay for sometimes. just do intake, full exhaust bolt ons and a tune and you will smoke him next time. my buddy has a 392 super-bee srt8 charger and even though its 4,400 pounds its freakin fast. but my 2ss is way nicer outside and inside, because the super bee srt8 is a stripped down srt8 with cloth seats etc. we paid almost the same but mine is way nicer in the looks department IMO and just as fast.
