haveblue, i am trying to convey that anyone who is torn between the z06 and this car needs to figure out that the 500 hp on the vette is nice, but if someone is torn between both cars, i don't think the hp rating is gonna matter when it comes to choice. Looks alone, the camaro wins......
no matter what vette has to offer. It all comes down to what makes ya happy though.....

Pick up a camaro at a dealer, drive it to the owner of the corvette, and test. I've done it before, me and my friend went to a dodge dealer and test drove a truck to another dealer with estimate in hand, when then told the Chevy dealer to show us a truck on their lot that matches it for the same offer. That really works great.

Sorry man... I love our Camaros, but the Z06 is F N sweet. Not too many miles on it and its fairly cheap. Go for the vette and smoke all the stangs out there!

That is tough, but I would go with the Camaro.

I've had two people w/vets tell me they are seriously considering
getting a Camaro.

Truth be told, I would rather you buy a Camaro from GM as opposed to a Z06 from somebody. Just because it's new and they need the sales.

But it's not up to me, and that's a real selfish thought to begin with.

If you can test drive both, or even just sit in and around a Camaro at a dealer (around here they're impossible to test drive...even the V6s. )...that would be best. You can decide which car fits you better...which you'd rather invest in...which grabs your emotions better. I think emotions are the primary driver in this debate, otherwise you'd have picked the Z06 already.

Some folks have mentioned looks and attention the Camaro gets as a selling point. You intend to keep this car, I assume the Corvette, too if you go that route -- forever. No one can say for sure, but I'm willing to say the Camaro's celebrity-status will wear down after a few years. And after a decade, attention won't matter anymore because there will be newer, hotter cars on the road. For the long-term outlook, ''attention'' shouldn't even be on the checklist, imo. That's not intended as a knock against the Camaro at all, just something to consider in the grand scheme of things.

I could have got a low miles Z06 for less than 3k over what I paid for my 2SSRS, I could afford a ZR1 but it's not practicle(100K+)so I got the Camaro because it's the what I wanted. The Vett is great, but the Camaro turns waaayyy more heads! Either is the correct choice!

Camaro all the way baby. I've had my share corvettes over the years. Time to make a change. Although I would like to have a ZR1 if it could be found around here.

The dealer here in town has a yellow 2008 ZO6 brand new for around 73, which is not that much more if you wanted a new ride.

i just voted for the Camaro and now it's 50 - 50...lol..35 votes to 35.

i voted the Camaro just because it's gonna be a new car. i've bought a few used cars and ended up with problems with them and dumping too much money into them. i won't buy used anymore. unless it's one of my dream cars, '57 Chevy or '67 Camaro SS.

The Z06 is the only Corvette I would consider, because it is one hell of a car.

The ergonomics of a vette are nice, the shifter falls right into hand, but the footwell is very narrow. I think a Vette is a an uncomfortable ride for long Sunday drives, my legs develop cramps. You sit very low in a Vette, access in an out with the large doors is a pain the the ass at times. In short, a Vette is fun, has awesome power, but they ain't comfortable--YMMV. A Ferrrari F430 by contrast, is much better thought out in the legroom area, and for me a lot more comfortable

I would choose the Camaro, as it suits me better, and I think it looks stunning.
