I just lost 75% of my Clutch
I went to start my 2012 V6, 6-speed Camaro and heard an unusual clunk sound, then I noticed my clutch went about almost to the floor. Fortunately my clutch engages way at the end, so I was still able to limp the car 7 miles home with just a few grinds between gears. I can barely get the clutch pedal down far enough to start the car. It feels like instead of the usual 1 inch of free play in the pedal, I now have about 6 inches of free play, 70% of its travel. With the pedal all the way down it disengages the clutch about 80%. There was no strange sounds on the way home, I just lost 70% of my clutch pedal travel. Any idea on what is happening here and what I should look for? The car just turned 90,000 miles, original clutch. Thanks.

If you didn't have any issues prior and you can't find any fluid leaking from anywhere it could be what my issue was after our recent clutch swap.
The low pressure hose from the reservior to the master cylinder just wasn't fully seating anymore around the master cylinder. Old and brittle and was keeping fluid in but was letting air into the system. For like $5 at an auto parts store for tubing it's a cheap test before you start replacing more things. |
