I've never liked the look of the C5 but it's a Z06 so the fun factor would out weight the aesthetics . Get er' done!

The dealer knows that a newer car will be easier to resell thats why he wants to get rid of the vette.Don't do it, if you want more power, find a nice 2010 ss camaro

I can understand trying to reduce your debt if your between jobs but I'm in agreement with looking for a better option for a DD. Don't wanna sound like "father knows best" but you could be playing Russian roulette with a car that could quickly turn into a black hole for money and suck you in.
On the other hand if you confident the car has a clean bill of health ( have it inspected by a certified vette mechanic, not billy bob) and you can afford the payments, I say go for it. You'll have a massive boost in performance. |

One interesting sidebar of the Z06, is that it was an accident.
GM designed a Discount Corvette called the FRC. It was the quickest and lightest of the C5's. Nobody would buy them. So to get rid of the FRC bodies, they put a Track Pack on it with a bump to 385HP, up from 350HP. This was the 2001 Z06. And it would have stopped there if people didn't go nuts over the new Z06. It was such a big hit, they pushed it to 405HP for a second year, and sold them out again. Two more years, and sales started to fall, so 2004 were the last. All the Corvettes from 1958 to 2015 weigh more than the C5 Z06. Perhaps the last of the lightweight American V8 sportcars? All years of Viper and Ford GT's weighed significantly more than the Z06 did.

So... the dealer is going to give you $1,000 for the trade? Hmmm... the Vette is 11 years OLDER than your Camaro, though the additional fun factor may be worth it. I would never get a LS, so I might do it! Just consider that if you bought the LS for fuel economy and low maintenance (and I can't imagine why else you would get an LS), that is out the window with the Vette.

it's a faster car but not a nicer car.
the C5 Z06 is quick but the interior is horrible IMO. oddly enough the 44k is sort of high miles for a corvette Z06 (3500 a year average is what most people would say) ha ha so I would beat them up on the price a bit. that seem like a 20k car to me. it is worth 22k but that is what it is worth. if you could beat them down you could avoid losing resale for a couple years. if you like speed though it will pull hard, handle better, and they mod easy. it is a two seater for sure so particaltiy is not there. look at 2006-2007 corvettes as well. they perfrom pretty well and the interior and looks are better IMO. they are getting down in the 23-25 range.
