My cooling fan starts only in 227Fº

Hello friends. I have My camaro since 1.5 years. But always has hot engine because the cooling fans starts only in 227 Fº, never before, only start in 227 Fº and cut off in 219Fº

Is there any way to make it turn on earlier like 210 F or less?

I dont have any coolant leaks or anything, just my cooling fan are lazy and turn on late.

Thanks!

the only way to adjust when your fans come on is through tuning.coolant temp sensor does not control fans. Its sends the coolant temp to ECM. The ECM decides when they come on

These guys are correct, you can only change the on/off points with a change to the tune. However, you can also install your own fan switch. PCM of NC makes a nice switch and harness - http://www.pcmofnc.com/product/2010-...tch-harness-3/

The other thing you need to understand is that the stock thermostat is a 187*F unit. That means it STARTS to open at 187*F and will typically settle (with good airflow through the radiator) about 10-15*F above that point. So, with a stock thermostat you'll only get it cooled down into the 200*F range. You can buy and install a low temperature thermostat. I prefer the 169*F Mishimoto unit. Here is a good write up I did on that unit and why you might want that instead of the typical 160*F thermostat most opt with.

Thanks guys. I read a lot with HP TUNERS can modify the PCM to the fan speed and temperature to on and off, If this correct?

Like I said before, my fans only turns when temperature reach 227Fº and cut off in 219 Fº.

I want to modify that, if its possible, my fans turn on in 212Fº, it will be great

You can change the temperature for the fans to come on their low setting, and their high setting, and at which temperature they turn back off. There are limits - the stock fan table only goes down to 192*F - and you need that cell to turn them back off, so really the lowest you can turn them on is the second to lowest cell, 196*F.

So, for your application you'd be fine.

Mine did this as well, but learned that my system was low on coolant or air pocket, it's supposed to kick on at 221 and lower the temps to around 205, at least mine does since I had it. Once I filled the system to spec, it was working normally again.

Unfortunately that's not shocking. The credits alone (for them to access the computer) are $100 their cost. Put on some markup, some time, and some tax, and there ya go. I would look into a full remote tune. RDP, a vendor on this forum offers them. So does GPI, a vendor I really like to work with. Not sure what your other options are for tuning - I'm sure there are other ways but none that I've used.

I believe you'll need two credits to make any changes to your car. You'll want to validate that before purchasing with the purchaser.
