IAT2 increasing in stock ZL1

I have a 2013 ZL1 with CAI intake. On the dashlogic and hp tuners i can see that after a few pulls the IAT 2's starts to increase rapidly when the car is not moving (in traffic or idling). On a 100F IAT 1, the IAT 2's even crosses 140-150F when the car is not moving. And when i start driving it then the temps cool instantly within 20-25 seconds and come down to almost IAT 1 level or maybe even lower.

I have set the fans to come on at 160F so that the heat is pulled from both the radiator and the intercooler at the same time. Is this normal because from what i read on other people posts that the IAT 2 SHOULD come down after a few runs EVEN when the car is idling?

I have checked the water level and it is filled to the neck of the filling port. And i have even cross checked by dissabling the intercooler pump (when the pump is off then the temperature rises much much quicker and does not come down).

From what I've read these cars are susceptible to heat soak. This is especially true with runs and moreso if the ambient temp is high. It's simple physics that the cars (engine and intake) will cool quicker if running (driving) at low rpm.

I would try:
1: parking in the shade...or the coolest spot you can find;
2: opening the hood; and,
3: ice if necessary.

It sounds hot there...what is the air temp, what is the track temp (or the temp of the spot you are parking)?

Mine acts similar when it's hot. I can see a 30 to 40 degree rise just from sitting in traffic, then cool down once I'm moving. Not unusual for these blowers. Heat soak is the reason. While driving I see 18 to 22 degrees above ambient, but I'm pulled down to 2.45.

Shut off the car, then watch it really heat soak ;o). As long as it cools when moving, you should be good...

At the track in between sessions I use my Aeroforce gauge to run the I/C pumps and fans to help cool the car down.

Ditto -- for the fans, my pumps run with ignition on (I have dual varimax pumps)....

Last night it was 90F degrees. This is summer time and the nights are cool. Otherwise in the day is it normally 104F to 110F

Also check your intercooler coolant level. These cars are notorious for being underfilled. It may take a few times topping it off to get all the air out as the system isn't the best design.

i have checked the coolant level many times and it seems full. On a cold car when i open the filler neck then i can see the coolant almost at the top and you can hardly put 10-20ml to top it off. Once the car is idling when you open the filler neck then the coolant starts to come out instantly.

Iat temps acting wierd

My turner said that my Iat's were jumping up and down when he was at WOT. This made it difficult for him to tune the car. Also when i'm driving the temps go up, its weird. The temps drop at idle and go up too 120, 130 when driving on highway, then drop down too 70-80 degrees AFTER 10 MINS OF DRIVING. I have AFCO with dual fans and a ice box. I'm wondering if it's air in system or bad pump.....anybody have this problem.

When im sitting in traffic idling its at 70 or 80 degrees but when I get up to speed on highway it goes up and stays at 130 for about ten mins then drops real fast to 70 degrees....

2012 zl1 692 rwhp with new tune

E85, long tubes, xpipe, dsx fuel system, upper lower pullies, cai, 1050 injectors, Btr 2 cam, springs, retainers, push rods, trenium rockers,

Pump cycles, does not run constantly.

Air or low coolant can also cause this. That would be my first ck...

Welcome to the Heat Soak club.. I lose interest in driving mine much above 80 F because that's how different the car drives.

I bet your brick is collapsed inside your lid not allowing adequate flow resulting in erratic iat2. Fix would be to replace brick with new and have it reinforced so it doesn't collapse again from higher boost levels.
