Headers?

Has anyone added headers? I'm curious what Brand, with or without cats and factory muffler w/NPP or aftermarket mufflers. Having hard time finding ZL1 specific headers. Most just say 2016-newer Camaro SS.

There are no specific ZL1 headers to my knowledge. All the headers that work with the SS will work on the ZL1.

TSP has them. And as mentioned, the SS headers will also work on the ZL1. I plan to get a set of TSP 2 inch catless at the end of this week. I already have a catback that deletes the exhaust valves and I'm pretty happy with it! The headers should make it even nicer!!

Did you do the install? If so, how difficult was it compared to the 5th Gen Camaros?

I did not, but from what I understand it was a little bit more difficult than a 5th gen.

LT4 cars are tighter than the previous G5 Camaro and C6 Vettes, but still doable.

Top quality headers are American Racing Headers (ARH) and Kooks, with the rest falling slightly behind.

ARH 2" primaries will drop in from top on passenger side once you remove the heat shield from starter to drop in and then put it back on. But make sure to put heat shield back on once header loosely fastened to head, if you torque it down you will not be able to get to the 10mm (head) bolts to put the heat shield back on.

For drivers side have to go up through bottom. Remove steering link and remove the bracket holding plug that front O2 sensor plugs into. My car is approximately 18" off ground and it went in relatively easily. It does help to remove valve cover on passenger side when sliding header in from the top, but may not be necessary with 1-7/8 primaries.

If you're not planning on future boost increases or cam what would be better; 1-7/8" or 2"?

Did you have to remove the actual starter, steering shaft, or any of the engine mounts?

No, both engine mounts stayed bolted up. starter stayed in place, just had to remove the heat shield to slip passenger header in (tried with shield in place, no-go). I already had steering shaft out, but I am pretty sure you would need to remove it anyways.

Now, this is for the ARH 2" primary headers, something like the Kooks or Stainless Works could be a little different depending on how the tubing is bent, I'm just not sure. I really did not think it was difficult, but everyone has different mechanical experiences.

I ordered Kooks 2" headers with green cats in April. Still haven't seen them or heard when they will ship. Looks like I'll be missing my install date in September.

Texas Speed has long tubes in stock. I'll try to track test and dyno test soon!
