Need a new block 😩

Well I finally got all my parts for my build picked block up from machine shop. Started assembling it got all my rings gapped and bearings clearances checked and assembled it. Wellllllllll got it all together and went to spin it and it would spin about 180 degrees. At that point I started taking everything apart. I found that cylinder one had a dent and crack in it from a timing cover bolt that was too long for that spot torque to 18ftlbs. So my block is trashed 😩. Does anyone happen to have one they can sell? Not wanting to waste money on a factory new block.

No it damaged the aluminum that they’d need when they resleeve.

First time hearing this, did you do new bolts for the timing cover?

I’m sure I grabbed wrong one by accident. I’m not totally sure though because by the time I realized it I had already removed everything and bolts were in a pile. Just horrible luck. I literally posted pics of the motor with the caption “this went suspiciously smooth” then 30 minutes later found that it had a problem lol. (I put lol but it’s more of a crying man laugh) I even called the machine shop and he said he had never seen that and that he would have thought the bolt would strip before that. When I told it was only torqued to 18ftlbs he was even more shocked.

I’ve been curious for awhile if this will work. I believe some of accessory connections to the block could be different.

Would be cool if all the camaro and vettes could source a high production truck motor

he is better off with a different block that way they don't have to tig the crack/hole shut. suspect issues later on if not repaired correctly.

besides a stock block is probably alot cheaper than sleeves & accompanying machine work

i do see that whatwarranty is close to texas-speed; so your right that's always a option..

whatwarranty you can order a new cylinder block from jegs and swap your water/oil plugs on over.
