getting rid of the prius
i want the prius "effect" gone. The whole reason for trading it in on the 1LE is to grow some testosterone and have "fun" driving. I too have a short commute of 5 to 10 miles to drop kids off at school and head to work. I definitely do NOT want to go buy a 90's honda with stick (although that would be a good alternative for a daily ) , but i want away the the weak feeling japan bred vehicle.
as jackalope said, keep the prius as the gas savings will make the difference. he is actually right. I have a 2000 ford expedition and i was paying $400 per month just in gas. The prius payment and the cost of gas for the prius are less than $400 per month. so, i purchased the prius and stored the expedition. However, i want to use the $15500 prius trade to knock down the 1LE sticker, and bring the expedition out of storage. (the expedition is only worth <$2000 in trade - if i am lucky). so i will be going back to a substantial monthly gas bill (for either the 1LE and or the expedition), but I will have "feeling" when driving. the prius is numb. leaves my senses unaffected. No rumble. no "heartbeat". Dave

I was able to get 26Hwy one time when I filled with 93 octane ethanol free. When I'm not driving like I want to I average around 18. I burned through my last 3 tanks really quickly averaging around 14 which means I really got 13 cause the DIC lies by about 1 MPG. I have a V6 manual fourth gen for my daily driver but I only get around 22 MPG in that. I drive it more to keep the miles low and enjoy the 1LE more than for the MPG. Had a repair on that recently where my MAF sensor made the car buck so hard it broke my transmission mount. I love driving my 1LE everywhere but it really would be a crime to drive it through stop and go traffic every morning.

My 1LE is my weekend warrior and track days car. I have no idea what the MPG's are and dont care. I also have a 496 BBC in my K5 Blazer (faster than my 1LE) with 4.56 gears and ummm yeah that one hurts the wallet haha! I dont mind the whole "pay to play" cliche

I drive 90 miles to work round trip, I average 22 MPG @ 80 cruise almost the whole way as I live very close to the exits. My car has 3k on the odometer. I did notice an immediate 2 mpg after adding a CAI. My 2000 Infiniti I30 I use as my beater get the same gas mileage of 22. Any faster it begin to drink gas the 1LE doesn't start drinking till about 95.

If you want good gas mileage, buy a prius. You bought a kickass camaro, who cares about fuel economy. Pedal to the metal baby!

F the Prius.
You want performance and fuel mileage, then buy one of the VAG 4 bangers with FI, and I'm particularly referring to the gasser 2.0T and the 2.0TDI engines. They respond very well to Ecu tuning and bolt on mods. 300ft/lb is not uncommon, whilst 30+ mpg. |
