Thinking of trading my Camaro in on a Mustang because...

I can't seem to find a dealership service department that will treat me right.

The best service department I've been to was the one at the dealership that banned me due to the fact that I caused them all sorts of trouble over what their body shop did to my paint.

See this thread.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76333

Hell the Service Adviser I used to deal with there has invited me to swing by and chat whenever I feel like it, and mentioned that she still has not cracked open that bottle of booze I gave her as a Christmas gift last year.

That should kinda give you guys an idea of how much of an insufferable bastard I am to deal with.
(Called her earlier to ask if she had any other recommendations on dealerships)

My experience at most of the other dealerships in the area have been on the lines of:

They want to overcharge for oil changes and have a totally different and much more frequent service schedule than is recommended in the owners manual.

Do not want to cover interior issues saying "normal wear and tare is not covered under warranty"
When I've already contacted the 800 number and received confirmation that the issue in question is in fact covered.

Or will not call me back to let me know parts are in, or in general.
That's a huge pet peeve of mine since I used to work as a Service Adviser for Chevy.

I'm quickly running out of dealerships in the general area.

Anyone else have any issues like this?
Or am I just blessed with the ability to find the biggest douche nozzle at a dealership?

Oh, and just kidding about the Mustang thing, I love my Camaro.

Only ever been to three different Chevrolet service centers...I was less than impressed by every single one. I found one to have adequate and professional service while the others were just bad. I feel like GM is missing the mark if they can't get the customer satisfaction marks improved by their Dealership service centers. Saturn (RIP), Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Ford all seemingly get better marks for customer service.

I agree that alot of Chevy service depts could be better with customer service, but not sure that Ford or Chrysler's service departments would be any better.

The only time I visit the dealer in which I got my Camaro from is when I get it's oil changes. I prefer going to my local dealer since they've always treated me right and my favorite salesman often says I'm like a son to him lol, so he always helps me out with anything when I swing by.

+1

i had a ford focus and i can say first hand that the service was not the best when i went in it was more of a sale pitch to get more done than what need to be done. i think most service dept are about the same they are trying to make money.

I have had work done at two dealerships in central Illinios, one I purchased the car from and the other is owned by the same company but is a Buick/ GMC/ Caddy dealer. Both location have been very good to work with pricing is resonable and customer service is excellent. The reason I sometimes use the non-Chevy service department is on a day off I don't want to drive 90 miles round trip to have work done.

Man I got me a dealer here in Sylvester that has always done me right.
Bought the car in Albany Ga and work in Sylvester.
Asked the service dept if they would cover my car while it's under warrenty, they said fine bring it.
Asked one day if they would put air in the tires, because they were low, they jumped on it.

Japanese car dealers are the best you will ever deal with. They know how to treat a customer. GM is the worst for customer service. Why can't they improve on that? That's why I only buy Japanese cars for every day driving. If it wasn't for the camaro, I would never buy a Chevy because of customer service reasons at the dealership. The camaro is so sweet though that its worth the hassle.

Seriously, I've never seen a dealership, Chevy or Ford, and I've owned both, that didn't have the same issues you mentioned above.

Can't speak for Chrysler, but Ford service departments have always treated me and my wife great. We even took my car to a dealership out of state while on vacation for service and they were just as good as the dealer we buy our cars from.

Sucks. the only thing I will go to a dealership for is warranty work, and even then it can be a headache at times. I feel your pain.

I am glad my local preferred auto enthusiast/performance shops take care of the rest of everything without pissing me off : )

Well, Classic Chevrolet Grapevine is a rare breed indeed...I have NEVER had more quality experiences there then any dealer I have bought from before.. I used to AVOID dealerships due to hassle, ....these guys got it right.. Maybe that is why they are the largest Chevy Dealer in the country and Eric Hall is so well respected on this forum..hmmm... interesting when a company figures out customer service, what great things can happen with them...
