a few progress photos on the gear and rear bushing install

Randy was finishing up with the cradle bushings, then just needs to do the differential bushing and throw it back in........

got the car back from 510 today. drives great. I can tell the gearing is different, but I haven't really got on it yet. Randy said to heat cycle it a few times. Poor me, guess I'll have to go for a good drive in the morning.

And no noticeable difference in noise level or ride quality from the upgraded diff bushings and cradle inserts.

THANKS TO RANDY @ http://www.510raceengineering.com/

How did I miss this thread??

Great build thread... don't know how I missed it.

I was at the meet when the LMR guys got the call and took off to go back to the car on fire. Never saw any pics of it until now.

We'll see if that works, but I don't AutoX or track the car really (maybe once a year if that) so no need for the solid mounts that transmit more noise into the cabin.

...and just so you know the club just purchased Auto-X equipment so you might get to put this stuff to use...

Great choice with 510... I plan to make a trip down to their shop next week with Jerry and Chris. Hope to see more guys from the club going there.

Thanks Pierre, and congrats on COTW. Your ride is pretty sweet.

I just powder coated the stock time gloss black cuz I figured I could do quite a bit of go fast goodies for the cost of some wheels. I'm sure I'll get a set one of these days, but I have a few other mode on the list first.........

Thanks Mike. I did a LOT of shopping around in the area (and some outside the area), but many shops declined to quote or things just didn't jive. 510 is the first place to put tools to my car other than myself. LMR did the tune early 2010 but I bought the parts from them and installed myself. Randy at 510 is very personable. I'm sure I'll be going back to them for more when the timr comes.

Yeah o need to do more with the H-town crew. Been to hot to do much of anything lately, that or too busy with the family. I'll be out of town for the autorama and Chevy show, just like I missed Kemah for the first time this year.

Understand the busy schedule... hope you can make the Camaro Nat'ls last weekend of Oct.

Glad to hear about your good experience w/ 510 Race Engineering. I've heard a lot of good things about that place. Patrick G is tuning for them too.

Yeah I might be able to make the Camaro nationals. I didn't go to that last year either. Shame on me. Maybe I'll look for a set of drag radials. I can't seem to get the launch right to save my life.....

only got a little over 100 miles on the new gears before I had to park her and go to work. can't wait to get back and finish the break in period. it is soooo hard not to mash the "GO" pedal - always was, but now I want to see/feel the difference

oh yeah, Randy at 510 Race Engineering did a good check on my car while it was in the air and noticed my oil cooler seeping. Guess I didn't get the memo that this is a common issue on some 2010s. so I'll take it in to the dealer when I get back to have it fixed - just before my 3/36 runs out at the end of Nov.

Well I got the oil cooler replaced. Thanks to Parkway Chevy on hwy 249.

And I managed to baby it thru the break in mileage for the gears. Wow is it ever hard to keep your foot out of the throttle!!!!
Now the tires break loose from a decent roll in first fewer no problem. No sense going to the strip without drag radials or slicks. I noticed I'm much higher in rpm after shifts so that I'm closer to the next shift - I.e. closer to redline. I was having to shift into 4th anyway at the end of the 1/4 so this will keep me higher in the power and should be better all around.
Either way, I really like the new gears. It just feels better in the shift range than factory.
Thanks again to Randy at 510!!!

Very nice and good catch by Randy, happened to me once too.

Now a REAL driver would come out to TCN2012 on stock tires and show us how it's done.

That's what I'll be doing..
