can a 4 cylinder really give me a run for the money?

My friend has a friend with a Subaru 4-cylinder. He says the car dyno'ed at 260hp/300 ft lbs. Without correction I dyno'ed at just under 300hp/just over 300 ft lbs., with correction I was 360hp. The Subaru is significantly lighter than my SS. Head to head would he really actually give me a run for my money? I just don't see it... From what my friend said he's not a jerk or a ricer type, it's actually his family car.

Also, I've never heard of a 4-cylinder having more torque than horsepower, something is a little fishy there not? If he really did dyno it there should be a dyno sheet right? I'll see if I can get a hold of it in an unconspicuous way.. Something just doesn't add up...

Yes, it will be a run for your money, given the power to weight ratio's, plus driver skill level.

A turbo adder will do that. Mine has more torque than HP. WRX's can be nasty.

Be careful with those Subarus. They can put up quite a fight. They weigh less and have a lot of power.

I saw a honda civic put a 10 down at the track last year. Looked like the kid pulled the car straight from the junk yard. But man it flew!

He may spank you. Every 100lbs is a tenth in the 1/4 mile and he is AWD so no traction issues.

We build 4 cyliners that go 10-9-8 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Sheesh, I learned something new today, I never would have guessed. I had already asked my friend if he thought he could get the dyno sheet and he was going to ask. I don't know if it's even worth posting now, I guess I'm still curious.

I had a turbo audi, and you can really do some amazing things with an engine that's built to handle boost... If it's an STi, it should be close. Again, it's not like a $15k honda civic. WRX STi's can cost up to $40k. If I paid that much, I'd hope to give you a run for your money also!!

There are many 4 cylinder cars that can give a run for the money. My friend has a evo called the ricer. Drives to the track runs 8 second 1/4 and drives home. Yes emissions legal in NYS. Also hit 198mph at the texas mile. All on gas out of the pump(E85)

Less traction issues.

my 637hp srt-4 just decimates my Camaro SS, it is a ugly, lopsided rout.

oh dont underestimate those little 4cyl cars, especially at our elevation (6000ft)... they can get pretty fast. my cousin has a 2.5l STi and he used to beat G8s and GTOs when he was stock. with exhaust/CAI/no tune, he was about 0.5-1car behind my stock C5 at 120mph (35-40roll).

now
