I don't think those 3 are worried - they sell their cars in the thousands vs. a Handful.

But that Technology is incredible

I am speaking to the hp and performance compared to their hybrids not sales numbers.

Koenigsegg > All other car manufacturers in the world

I've been following Koenigsegg for a while and they keep on impressing me. I thought the One:1 would be the last car we see from Koenigsegg for a couple years. I guess not!!
I can't wait to see the results of the Agera R and One:1 running on the Nurburgring later this year. Koenigsegg already said the Agera R will beat the Porsche 918 around the track. Just imagine what the One:1 (and now the Regera) will do!

Ok, I'll be the DB.

Name something about this car that is actually new.

He has brought together an awesome package and for $1.5M you should expect this much car.

Dihedral doors? Flat folding rear wing? 3 electric motors with regenerative braking? Wow.

As for the camless engine he is working on? PR. Patents for pneumatic and electrohydraulic camless engines go back many years. Ford had a patent issued in 1995. Just the ability to have variable valve timing and valve lift without a mechanical system would be huge for FE. I would bet every major OEM is working on this.

So the wow factor is that a company that small can pull this car off. That is the truly amazing thing to me. The integration and modification of all of these technologies in a drivable, luxury oriented automobile is the real feat here. He has built a car that can run and go toe to toe with cars built by huge corporations with massive budgets.

Think of it this way. 100 cars at $1.5 million is only $150 a year. That's peanuts and when you subtract the cost of the parts, the guy has a miniscule engineering budget to pull all this together. That is the engineering marvel.

Oh, I don't know... How about the fact that it's a completely new style of transmission, and it will handle 1500+ ft lbs of torque?
Also the active hydraulic suspension?

Nothing new there. Awesome but not new. Awesome application and integration, though. Just not new.

As I have said before, I think in a discussion with you actually, execution is paramount. Nobody else is building anything like this. It's the result, not the individual pieces, that is impressive. Koenigsegg is rethinking how the Lego pieces fit together and the significance of that shouldn't be undersold.

That's my point.

The work and accomplishment at his scale is absolutely incredible. To take a bunch of ideas and concepts (in production or not) and integrate them into a car that does what this one does is a giant accomplishment.

I'd love to meet the guy. Heck, I'd probably like to work for him.
