The Infamous Neck Chopper ( Seatbelt) Tried everything and got pulled over today

It slices into my neck no matter what I do. its the most horrible location. All of my other cars have the shoulder belt inches lower.

Is there any TSB on this or a real solution?

I am about to redrill the mounting hold in the side pillar because its that bothersome. I just dont want to risk my safety or the SRS system. I might even have to weld in a threaded bong for the bolt to make it work. Royal pain in the butt.

I got pulled over today and told the cop and he laughed but when i showed him he said you better get that fixed.

Try lowering the seat?

The same problem for me. I just finished a 3400 mile trip (including camaro5fest) and found the belt cut into my neck no matter what I tried. A shirt with a collar helps but it's still a pain in the neck. At times I put the belt under my left shoulder but I think that defeats the purpose of the belt. Some kind of a padded wrap around that part of the belt would help.

AutoZone stocks nice belt pads made by Bell ... I've put them in both cars front and rear, and no more problems ...

This came up not too long ago. Your dealers parts department can order a seat belt extension for you. It's 6" long, I believe, and it fits into the buckle and allows that belt to move a little farther to the left. It was actually designed for heavy people who couldn't fasten the belt because they were too big. But I have several customers who request them on their cars for the same problem you are having. The best part is that it's free. Call your parts dept and have them order one for you and see if it helps. Better to try that before you start redrilling things. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

great tip thank you!
i have a heavy black paper clip on the belt
i position it so it jams the belt in the upper mount with just a little slack
it means it wont reel in so i just lay the belt along side the seat

the TBSS Has the same issue

I dunno what height you are...but I've never experienced this...and I've been waiting for it...

(I'm 6', by the way)

I have seen (courtesy Killer74Z28) these sleeves that fit over the belt to keep it off you...but that belt extension seems promising.

I (mostly) fixed this problem in my car (not a Camaro) by raising the seat and sitting a bit more vertical. It puts more pressure on the shoulder rather than letting it slide across to the neck.

I have the same problem. A shirt or jacket w/ a collar does help but its still annoying. I was thinking of putting a clip on the lap and sholder belt to hook then together. That would pull it to your left more. However I think that extension may basically do the same thing. And for that price, I think I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the info!
