Factory pushrod length not 7.325in ?

Everywhere I've read states the factory LSA pushrods are 7.325in. So I ordered an aftermarket set that length. Upon removal and checking the two lengths, the factory pushrods are 7.400in. Has anyone else encountered this???

Factory pushrods are 7.4. It's something to keep an eye on. Most aftermarket companies use 7.4 as well but some cams require a different size. Also refer to the MFG of the cam and get a pushrod length checker. We check every car we build because you never know if someone had their heads decked, aftermarket head gaskets, lifters, or whatever.

7.4 is stock for LSA/LS3. Not all cam companies use the same "core" to machine their cams and some have smaller base circles than stock. You should always measure.

Thanks! I haven't done a cam yet. If I do that'll be further down the road. I'm an ASE certified mechanic with 20+ years under my belt. Built quite a few small blocks. Just had me second guessing myself for a minute.

Just a heads up, there is something called "Gauge Length" when measuring Pushrods, and how different companies measure/make Pushrods.

It is said that when checking with a regular caliper to measure pushrods, you need to subtract "0.017" to get "Gauge Length". I usually go "0.015-0.017".

Math check. I think that would be 7.340, right?

Indeed, hahaha.

I guess in my mind while doing the math, I moved the decible.

Everything else is correct though.

Best to always measure push rods (even stock ones) with a push rod checker when a new cam or heads are installed. Every aftermarket cam I've installed has a smaller base circle than stock. Incorrect push rod length can cause the dreaded "LS sewing machine sound". Also, every stock LS PR I've measured (going back to the LS1 days to now) has always been 7.37 to 7.38" when using a digital micrometer. The LS7 does have a longer length factory PR.
