Trouble getting Otima Battery installed.

My battery went bad on my 2011 SS convertible. I went to two Pep Boys and Autozone as well as my dealer and none of them would install it because the battery was located in the trunk. They said it was a big job.

Since I didn't want to drive around with a bad battery I was forced to install the factory one at the dealer for like $270. I could have had the Optima for that! Next time I want to be ready. Is it really that hard to fit an Optima in a 2011?

Shouldn't be that big a deal

I have not replaced my wife's '13 Camaro battery yet, but we did look at it. I thought it was kind of cool to have it in the trunk, just like we did for her '67 Camaro. I can't see it being that big a job. Just a couple of covers.

My 0.02 worth,
Tim

If you have a stock battery in it. Watch when you take it out it has a vent tube connected to the battery on the right side vented thru the floor of the trunk.

Optima is a dry cell battery , does not need vent. I see no problem.

Just put one in my car. Only issue is the optima is smaller so you will need to brace it in there somehow.

I had some thick rubber so I cut a piece and put one under the battery and another on top of the battery to wedge it in there.

I see no problem either. Came with a vented battery because of where it is located. So I put a duplicate one with the vent back in.

Optima is a AGM battery not a dry cell battery. I have always good luck with the Optima battery.

Not sure I would put in an Optima un-vented, but YMMV...

All AGM batteries are sealed. AGM battery give off no fumes. Therefore they do not need to be vented. I have been using AGM batteries for years on my bikes before they started making them for cars. The greatest thing about them is there is no white battery acid all over the place like a normal lead acid. You can mount them on their sides no problem.

Optima, Interstate, and GM-Delco Remy all make a great AGM battery.

You are mistaken on the need for a vent tube with AGM batteries. You should not spread dangerous rumors.

And all those batteries are made by the same company now.

AC Delco AGM Battery for Camaro requires a vent tube. So does the Exide (same battery actually).

Notes: BCI 94R CCA 740; Battery is vented to outside of the vehicle; Use vent tube 92228938.

Notes: OE CCA: 720, Battery is vented outside of vehicle.

I have the Exide AGM and it is vented, (check site:http://www.carid.com/exide/edge-grou...agml4-94r.html)
Was very easy to install, connected a battery charger under hood and didn`t lose any presets on radio and also computer I assume.
