3.73 or 4.10?
What is everyone using?
Early on I heard that 4.10 were not holding up and to use 3.73 to be on the safe side. Is this still the case or have the 4.10 gears had their issues sorted out?

I've heard all the issues have been worked out with the 4.10's for a while now.

My concern also is that the 4.10 will be a bit much for a daily driver. I'm wondering if 3.73 will be a nice middle ground gear. But then I think that going 3.45 - 3.73 isn't all that much and wouldn't be worth the money.....this isn't a cheap mod, especially compared to the $350 it cost me to buy and have the gears changed in my '69.

I've always heard that the 3.73's are best for the L99's, and 4.10's for the LS3. And if you're LS3 is staying all naturally aspirated (i.e., no supercharger, no turbo), and you do want an agressive gear, you can even go up to 4.33's!!

You're going to get a differnt answer from everyone that will post in this thread. I won't tell you what's the best application. Mainly bc I don't know what the F i'm talking about. I can only tell you that in my L99, making north of 660 rwhp, I have a Jannetty built 4.10 rear. Its awesome and by far the best thing I have done to the car, besides everything else. It accelerates like there's no tomorrow. Passing on the highway takes almost no throttle becasue you are so much closer to the power band. It does cruise at just below 2400 rpm at 75 which makes the exhaust note louder so if you DD drive that may not be for you.

The several people that I spoke with that has the 4.10 say that it is the best for the LS3's. They love them and that 2nd pulls like 1st use too, 3rd pulls like 2nd use too and so on. IMHO it is not worth the money to go from 3.45 to 3.73.

For a street driven daily driver this is my general recommendation. 4.10 is perfect for the LS3 cars but Richmond just released 4.11s that are apparently stronger. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up.

If you think 4.10's are too much for a street gear in these cars and you have a LS3, you need to unbuckle your pants and see if the boys are still hanging.
just my opinion.....

What should I be searching on to find more info and feedback about the different gears? I've tried 3.70, 3.73, 4.10, gears.....but not much info seems to be coming up.
I'm hoping to get an idea on RPM in different the different gears. ex: 2000 RPM, 75 mph, 6th gear with 4.10 vs 3.73.

Has anyone heard anything from Motive gear about a ring and pinion for our cars?
