I may be wrong, but I belive they ended up with the ZL1 name and GM made a deal of ssome sort to get it back.

Just a reminder folks, #28 is taken.
I believe they bought the rights to ZL, not ZL1. If you look closely, their 'ZL1' is really a 'ZLtm1'

I don't know one way or the other if GM ever let the trademark on ZL1 go away, or if they ever en tm'd it in the first place, since it was never really a Camaro model ... just an alpha numeric code like any other.

Pete...and Mike/LPE...here we are, with 800-and-some posts spread over 30-odd pages, trying to guide/evaluate/reassure ourselves and others of a "Z/28 blueprint to success". Resulting in a canyon-carving BOSS-busting wallet-friendly daily-driveable weekend-wicked heritage-hungry Gen-5 Camaro warrior...

There is interest. SERIOUS interest. At greater unit profit than an SS. For units that will draw traffic and add conquest sales. That are worthy of the name...

Who's gonna fill the VOID?! And when?

Even if we have to build it ourselves. If you think about it what can Chrevrolet offer that we cannot add ourselves? Right now if you start with any SS LS3 and $10k you can build a 425+ rwhp track starlet with a full warranty that has limits way beyond most drivers (me included) that probably would dust any affordable Z28. I guess what you lose is some resale and the emblems.

But do I hope we see a Z28. I wouold be a good start for my next project. And I would love to see the inevitable Z28 - Boss showdown. Of course the magazines will hammer the Z28 for visibility, looking like a Transformer and the sterring wheel. Even if the Camaro wins on the track it will be:
  • 2nd
