Man these look so good!! And they're simple to do! I can't wait to get home and do this easy little mod! The only thing I don't like is how noticeable the beehives are on the lens. I wish our lenses were smooth!

I've done this to three cars now. Great mod and the top ten cheapest mod for the $$$.

I like the looks of your afterburner mod best OP, so I'm heading out to Home Depot to find some aluminum sheet. I took a photo of a tail light and scaled it in Corel Draw, so I can get exactly 2 rows of those round lenticles to illuminate, and drew in an adjustement slot to I can tweek the position for centering after they are installed without drilling new holes:

Im sure you already know this but be sure and do two sets of these as the outside lights are sized different from the inside lights

I did not know this, I'll check another and measure it. I had to go to a couple stores to find the aluminum sheet, and I laser cut a chipboard template for one light, but have not cut any metal yet. Continuing after work tonight.

I read through the whole thread today, and addressed the 2 points of interest... One being we need to make small adjustments to center the light left to right, and the other being that there are 2 different sizes for the inner and outer tail lights.

So I drew up the mods, made a template, and made my blackout plates adjustable:

One of you guys should precut a bunch of these and sell them. Or better yet, make a die and have them punched out with a press so you can make hundreds of them. It sure would make this mod alot easier to start with precut inserts. I would pay at least $20 for a set and they would cost less than $1 to make these with a die and a bender.

If you give me the okay... I would be glad to do it, and make some extra $$. It's not my design though.

You are free to use the attachment template, to make and sell them as desired. I don't have time to do it, working 6 and 7 full days a week.

By the way, it only takes 30 minutes to cut out 4 of the blankout plates, and fold them. The dremel and a 3" reinforced cutoff disk can cut 4 tail light housings in 30 minutes also.

yes... if you are optimistic, and you get it right the first time.

When I do stuff like this, it takes me 5 times as long because I accidentally break one of the tabs during bending... or cut too far... or cut myself

It would take me at least half of a day to make 1 set those inserts, and I would be frustrated to top it off. I would rather do this for the half day.... ...... and cut the insert slots for in 10 minutes.

Heck now that I think about it... I would probably pay $30-40 for them.

If anyone else is on board.... I will make a die, and punch a couple hundred of these out........ Now that I have consent from the designer.

.... or if someone else does it, add me to the list of people interested.

Hey all!

@ RRay, Love the adjustable tab idea...awesome. It's great to see my idea used and enhanced. Love it.

As far as the two seperate sizes, I didn't find this necessary for functionality. Mine fit just fine. However, as an artistic design implement I think it's a great idea! As a previous poster stated, youre only limited by imagination.

Take care all and looking forward to seeing more!
