7th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise (Father's Day Cruise) - June 18, 2016

The 7th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise (Father's Day Cruise) will be held on June 18, 2016!

What is it?
This is a cruise through Alberta, starting from both Calgary and Edmonton, driving to Red Deer, on to Rocky Mountain House, and then on to Banff to spend the night. There will be a few stops along the way for pictures and lunch!

Facebook Event
The Western Canada Camaro Club has additional information about this event in our Facebook group!
Please find the group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/west...adacamaroclub/

Additionally, there is a Facebook event created for this cruise!
Please find that event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/446912545509770/

Edmonton and area Camaros will be meeting at Save On Foods near 34th Avenue and Calgary Trail between 7:30AM and 8:00AM, leaving Edmonton at 8:15AM.
Save On Foods
3361 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton
https://goo.gl/maps/ZpCBtkpwamQ2

Calgary and area Camaros will be meeting at the Shell & Tim Hortons east of CrossIron Mills mall between 7:30AM and 8:00AM, leaving Calgary at 8:15AM.
Shell & Tim Hortons
Corner of Crossiron Blvd and Bass Pro Way
https://goo.gl/maps/M6dqPSUCeQn

All Camaros will be meeting in Red Deer at the Costco/Staples parking lot between 9:30AM and 10:30AM. We will be leaving Red Deer at 10:30AM and driving to Rocky Mountain House, which is about an hour away.
Staples, Red Deer
100, 150 Leva Ave, Red Deer County

Rocky Mountain House stop and lunch
The Chevrolet dealership in Rocky Mountain House, Edwards Garage, www.edwardsgarage.com, will once again be hosting a lunch for our group! Just like last year, the dealership has elected to work with the local Boys and Girls club to cook! Lunch will cost you a (minimum) $5 donation per person to the Rocky Mountain House Boys and Girls club. A great cause and worthy of our support based on all that Edwards Garage has done for us over the past few years!
Edwards Garage Ltd
4403 42 ave, Rocky Mountain House

Trip to Banff
Rocky Mountain House to Saskatchewan Crossing is about 190km, with three stops along the way:
  • Abraham Lake for photos
  • The Park gates
  • Saskatchewan River Crossing
Each stop will be approx. 20 - 30 minutes, this will keep us all together. For those heading north from Saskatchewan River Crossing, Jasper is about 155km, with some great stops like the Columbia Ice Fields along the way. For the majority of us that are heading south, Banff is about 135km.

Banff Hotel:
We have made arrangements for a group discount at the Douglas Fir Resort and Chalet for this event. HOWEVER, there are no blocked off rooms! It is first come first served! If you want a room, please book now!!

To book a hotel room, please phone:
1-800-661-9267
Use reference #ABCC14 to get the preferred rates.

The following prices are for June 18th, 2016:
$170.00 Studio Room (up to 4 people)
$191.00 One Bedroom Condo (up to 4 people)
$219.00 Loft (up to 6 people)
$247.00 One Bedroom Loft (up to 6 people)
Children 16 years and under stay free when sharing with an adult. Above rates are a per night rate and based on 2 adults in a room. Extra adults are $20 per person per night. Rates do not include applicable taxes. In addition to the discounted rooms above, you may also be interested in their Two and Three Bedroom A Frame Chalets! Their cancellation policy is 48 hours – any cancellations made within 48 hours of arrival will be charged a fee of 1 night room and tax.
Douglas Fir Resort & Chalet
525 Tunnel Mountain Rd, Banff, Alberta

For those headed to Jasper:
We do not have a designated hotel. Last year we used the Best Western Jasper Inn & Suites, and have also used the Marmot Lodge in previous years.

Banff Dinner and drinks afterward!
Dinner will be at the Rose and Crown in downtown Banff.

We can order A La Cart, off their standard menu. The chef doesn't see our group size being an issue for them at all, and they are flexible on the numbers. They have a games room with pool tables, buck hunter, foose ball and tables and booths that will accommodate us and we will have our own servers. This will allow us to mix and mingle or sit and relax after driving.
They also have a roof top patio which is hopefully open in June!

They request an 18% gratuity on our bills but we can pay individually.

The hotel offers free transit passes for those that don't want to walk to the restaurant, or drive and try and find parking. Group bus trip!

Some suggestions we have are:

Been checking back every so often to see when this would come to fruition. I'm happy too see it is! We'll be coming for sure again this year, just have to book that day off work again.

See everyone in June!

I was starting to get nervous as there has been no talk of this cruise yet.
Glad to see it is still going to happen.
I will do my best to be there but work will dictate that.
I will confirm as it gets closer......
Thanx for keeping this great cruise alive.

It would appear that I need to pay more attention to what I read. Hinton cancelled, room booked in Banff. Will be joining main group for the trip.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
