Biggest "oh shit" moment in your Z...

Would like to hear about moments when you pushed her a little too hard and had an "oh shit" moment and what happened afterwards.

Me? It was probably when i drove the car home (about 25 miles) after the purchase. It was dark, about 38 degrees and raining and I was on a highway undergoing a lot of construction with very uneven pavement. I had such a euphoric feeling, but I have to admit that I was a tad fearful. The car was tramming like crazy and all I had heard was "don't drive in the rain with the Trofeos". In the back of my mind I felt I was doing something stupid, but damn was it fun!

That was 1 year ago to this date. 10,300 miles later and now I feel much more at ease, but every now and then she'll remind me that I must respect her at all times. Lol.

14 people and not one of you have had an "oh shit" moment? Or you don't own a Z? That's okay.. tell us anyway... we're an inclusive bunch in this forum.

And where in the hell did Urban Legend go? He starts a whiny thread about nobody posting anymore and then disappears. :-)

Oh I've had more then a few. One spin at Autocross. One near disaster at the track. PTM 2 saved me on that wet track day.

When I started looking at current Rotor prices and realized they have gone up significantly from what they were, I know that is not while in my Z, but it is an ohhhh shit moment...

Spun off track at Thompson Speedway, turn #9. Stabilitrak was off. Didn't help that I was attempting a hero run..Red mist, I guess.

No damage, nobody had to take evasive action, thank goodness.

Need more skid pad time before going back to PTM4, 5.

For me when its time for new rotors it will be time for a new car.

I distinctly remember 2 " oh shit " moments.

Searching Autotrader for a new car..... OH Shit!!! Z/28 for $55K new, 15mi away from my house..

Few days later going in the garage... OH Shit!!! I really do own one.

Coming out of the heel of the boot at Watkins Glen did a 360. I came in hot, late brake, late apex, punched the accelerator instead of squeezing it, rear of the car was light as a feather and came around. One car behind me that missed and I ended up a foot from the wall.

No moments here really. I try my best to stay ahead.

Today temperature was 54 degrees in the morning. So I had the car in wet mode. No need for old school tank slappers.

Taking traffic circles can be fun in any car, but . . . concrete curbs are not forgiving.

take your pick: off track on a second lap before the brakes were up to temp, off track in the rain on a straight into 3ft tall grass, blown motor due to a valve drop, tail out in PTM 4 because of greedy throttle application, and sliding into my driveway almost hitting a tree because of wet leaves.

my vote for you is the last one. That is one nobody is usually expecting! When you are on a track you are at least mentally aware that something could happen. But pulling into your driveway and sliding that would be a big oh sh!t moment for sure!

Right after I first had my car in April, I hi the brakes pretty hard, and well..pitched myself forward HARD...
I realized that you had to be just as careful when you sopped the car quickly as when you're driving, that the guy behind you wont be expecting a 1.5 G deceleration..and you could cause a wreck that way. Considering that there are a lot of POS drivers in Tulsa...you gotta always be on your P's and Q's.

My "oh shit" moments are all reserved for the track now. Haven't gutted the car yet but doing 585rwhp has gotten me into a few "oh shit" moments.

Got it down to a 1:489 on the Roval in Fontana. My big "oh shit" is coming soon when I finally decide to hit turn 1 at 159 - 162 and keep a high line through the apex at 145 and back out to the wall through turn 2.
When I can complete that I hope I can say "oh shit" I finally did it.

This car is beating GTR R-35's, Viper SRT's, GT3-RS' I am only behind a Vette ZL1 (Full Race), my buddies C5 Z06 (Full Race), of course the ACR Viper, a couple of good GTR R-35 guys and a few GT3 RS guys.

The stock brakes are amazing on the track even with all this HP to slow down. I am still out braking most cars and picking up time in the brake zones. The suspension sucks up the rumble strips like like a coke addict makes a line disappear. You don't feel the car get upset in the Esses at Buttonwillow.

This car makes a lot of people scratch their heads (Porsche drivers) when a domestic "Muscle Car" goes by them on the straight, out brakes them and causes them to lose focus and miss an entrance line, lays down power well out of the turns and growls and grunts all over the track.

Wow, that's awesome!
What mods did you do?
I expect my Z back next week with similar RWHP and hopefully a smidge more.
I have a track day scheduled for the very next Saturday at Homestead Raceway in Miami
