Yep. In fact there are already calls to name the 4.2TT "Northstar..."

To me, this sounds like an attempt to get people to buy Cadillacs who want a V8, but consider pushrod engines too archaic and crude to ever buy a car with them. They want something high tech and sophisticated ... regardless of whether or not that makes for a better engine. Such engines will almost certainly remain Cadillac exclusive -in order to elevate the brand beyond being just GM's luxury division.
Yeah but the article specifically says the CT6 with this v8 is not intended to be a sporty model. I'm sure they could easily pump out over 500 HP with that engine.

I don't think putting a small displacement, twin turbo, DOHC V8 in a Z/28 would go over very well. It works fine for Cadillac, since most people believe push rods are ancient technology and DOHC is ultra modern.

Road and Track is claiming a 4.2L Twin-Turbocharged V8 for CT6.
That would make a nice power plant for the Buick "Avista" as well if the market it for more than China. Can't wait to get more details.

This ^ To people that don't know much, Twin Turbo DOHC sounds way more sophisticated and superior than OHV. Which is why its perfect for Cadillac.

Ok, so it's a lousy engine built unnecessarily complex and exclusively for snooty Cadillac buyers who don't know what they are looking at but know they want something different....lol...Good luck with that.
Sounds like a ridiculous strategy, but then again GM knows best. Can't wait to see what kind of a turkey they come up with for the Z/28!

It won't necessarily be a bad engine. Its just hard to make a V8 that is, overall, a better engine than a Chevy small block.

Well, when you put it that way ... it kinda sounds like the perfect way snag people who have been bouncing between the various German luxury cars. And there are a lot of people that bounce between the various German luxury brands.

My gut tells me LT4, but my heart wants it to be a NA engine. In my own imagination, I've conceived of an engine that would fit. Make an LT series engine as large as feasible without resorting to some of the special trickery that had to be done on the LS7. Probably end up around 6.7L. Then design it with a redline at or slightly above what was accomplished with the LS7. Lastly, go as aggressively as possible with the cam profile while staying emissions legal. By my figurin' an engine that fits that concept should be good for 540ish hp & 500 or so ft-lbs.

To help keep costs down, offer it in Corvettes too. Kind of as a midpoint between the LT1 & LT4, either as a stand alone option or as part of a mid-model (maybe a Grand Sport?). It could even be rejiggered as a HD truck engine too. Trade some RPMs and power for more low end torque & durability, and now there is a nice step up from the 400ish hp gasser.

Its fun to dream sometimes ...

This isn't GM related in any ways (I guess technically he was trying to get them to merge), but...

Quote:
At the Detroit auto show this month, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne launched into a long discussion of why the Chrysler 200 sedan hadn't secured the admiration -- or the recommendation -- of Consumer Reports.

"The 200 failed because somebody thought that the rear-seat entry point inside the 200 -- which is our fault, by the way -- is not up to snuff," Marchionne said.

Then the boss explained what went wrong. "The Hyundai which we copied [presumably the Sonata] has the same problem," Marchionne admitted. "We didn't copy the car, we copied the entry point to the rear seat. Dummies. I acknowledge it. Some people from design left some of their private parts on the table after we came up with that determination. But I think we're learning from this process."
Ladies and gentlemen, the great Sergio Marchionne.

How is he still CEO??? I think he left his brain on a table a long time ago.

It's become comical at this point. Everybody rips off everyone else, it's naive to think they don't. But nobody comes out and straight up admits it, especially not the CEO.

He's basically blaming the 200's failure on Hyundai not engineering a good enough roofline they could copy.

Thanks for sharing....the MT review seems pretty positive thus far...must read more.

It also said "PAS/PAL can be manually triggered in Sport mode by flattening the gas pedal and then immediately lifting"

Can the same be done in the 6th gen Camaro....does anyone know. If I push the peddle to the floor and then lift, would it trigger the aggressive mode?
